X1 Buying Advice...Never purchased a car from a dealer or this new
Hello All,
I'm getting very close to pulling the trigger on this car for my wife: http://www.atlantabmw.com/certified/...7720575e04.htm I've always purchased private party and this will be my first from a dealer. From what I can tell from edmunds, KBB, Etc this looks like a decent deal. They are not budging too much on price so what can I haggle? Any advice when buying from a dealer? This is uncharted territory for me and I'm nervous I could get screwed some how. Are $500 doc fees normal? Thanks for any advice. |

Could probably get something cheaper. That thing new was barely 40 with the options list they show. Look around, there should be better deals out there.

You can get a 2014 of that model for that price. Put it this way: I paid $35k for a 2014 X1 xDrive35i MSport with Ultimate Package, HK, and heated seats with 15K miles. That was 5 months ago. I had to get it long distance, but the deals are out there.
If that is the car you want, I'd show up with a check for $30K for that car and put it on the sales manager's desk this coming Wednesday. End of month, quarter, and year, and sales quotas got to be met., so pressure is on them. Don't let them flamboozle you, but be prepared to walk away.

If they will not budge on price - make them a finial offer and be prepared to walk. As said it is the end of the year so they should be motivated. |

Check Kelly Blue Book with all the same specs plugged in and it will give you an idea of what it's worth at retail.

My CPO '13 was 32k, and only had 6k miles. It had no iDrive, but it did have Premium pkg, lighting pkg, and cold weather pkg. Prices also vary by region, but I could have done better if I wanted to buy 200 miles away.

To OP - You might want to check another BMW forum, "Bimmerfest." That site has dealer sponsors, and I believe one is in Atlanta. You join the Bimmerfest forum with a simple registration then contact the sponsor dealer, and they will give you probably as good a price as you can get without haggling. It's worth a try, anyhow.

If you are planning to drive it to 100k one thing that I recommend is to negotiate the maintenance package. With low interest rates and if you are putting money down it should work out and save you money and hassle long term.

i would offer 30k and be willing to come up to $30,500. They will sell you the car this week for that price. After Jan 1, its 2 years old. They want to move it. I got my new 2013 X1 Idrive 28i for 38k last year, msrp was 44k. Has almost all options...Was headed for the door 3x, they always called me back!

Regardless of the deal, if the vehicle has NAV, ensure that they update the map set for free.

Well we pulled the trigger. Car is beautiful. Wife is happy which is really important.
We ended up going to another dealer where they had a orange 13 xdrive28i that was some kind of VIP vehicle that had every option checked xline, Ult package, HK radio, Com Box with apps, heated seats and steering wheel, servotronic etc... Never really had a car this optioned out. Paid 31k. Car has 5k miles. Warranty goes to 75k. Thanks for all the advice. Good point about the maps. I'll hit them up tomorrow.
