Performance Delivery pickup question

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am scheduled to pick up my car from the Performance Center on August 1st! I am hoping to make contact with someone who has recently been to the center as to what all happens. I know the plant is closed and that won't be part of the day but are they filling that time with something else or does it just shorten the day? I'm considering taking my daughter instead of wife, we figured that it would be a good experience for her since she is a fairly new driver. I have gone through the driving school there so I am familiar with that, I'm just wondering how much time they let you be on the track and do they let you drive other cars, similar to the driving school?

Thanks for any input,
Brian

They let you drive the model you are picking up.(read: not your car) For the skid pad, they let you use a 3 series. Then they take you through a quick slalom/braking test. Then they let you do some laps around a mini track. Then take you around in the drift M5s. Then do the X5 off roading. Your daughter will have a blast, and probably give her a bug to do more.

It's worth it since its the same price as delivery to a dealer. The room/food and experience is worthwhile.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=136 is worthwhile read.

The Marriott hotel you will be staying at is also first class. The food they serve you is also amazing. The whole experience is amazing! My favorite part was the skid pad driving the 3 series and spinning it out. But the best best best part was the m5 hot lap. It will throw you against the back of your seat literally.

The Center and the track are amazing. Definitely worth it, even if the plant is shut. Is the museum open? It should be.

If you run into Mike Renner, tell him I said hi. We used to race bikes around the performance center track, it was a blast. I have ridden with Mike around the wet pad a few times. It was a blast. I have never had the pleasure of driving around it though.
