What have been public reactions to your X1?
Please tell your stories of reaction when approached about your X1
I get mixed reactions but everyone says it looks unique, like when i had bought an Infiniti FX45 when they first came out, i love the way it looks and drives, good news is at least we get reactions!

I've only had one person approach me in a parking lot. She apparently had been shopping the X3 and didn't know about the X1. Not sure if price was keeping her from the X3. Still not all that many X1s on the road here in Los Angeles/South Bay.

I have gotten quite a few compliments on it. But i have only seen about 3 or 4 since i got mine. Which i like. I got the X1 cause i thought it was unique. The 3 series is awesome car but there all over.

same reason
of course everyone wants a vehicle to drive to their expectations but also want an appealing car and one that is not on every corner, i get tons of compliments on mine, first reaction is "what a cool looking vehicle" as i have not seen one going down the road yet

Anyhow, I think you misunderstood "I didn't buy a BMW to have it looked at by others". How it looks to me, sitting in it, is important. How it looks to others isn't, as long as they don't bother me. |

Mine being lowered 3" has gotten some interesting reactions. I've been asked if its a 1 series hatch, if its an X3, I had a guy in a ML63 AMG stop me and ask if it was a 3 series hatch, some people have asked if it was a 1 wagon... In the end... Everyone of all ages and styles has liked it a lot... Everyone that comes to the shop loves it and has expressed interest in it. Most people were iffy before it was lowered because the X1 has a high ride height for its size especially the M Package ones... Once I lowered it everyone's tune changed and says that this is how it should have come. And for you all anti lowering SUV people, it is my daily, it has snows on, and there is nowhere I haven't been able to go with it including a rutted gravel driveway 1,000 feet long through the woods and it handles close to the way my e92 did.

Nothing wrong with getting some eyes on a new ride, when I first got my T-Reg, all I got was compliments and to be honest it kinda got old, I don't mind the occasional compliment on my X1 and that's usually what I get, most common reaction is "what is that?" I'll say x1, new bmw model blah blah and it usually ends with wow that's a nice car, looks cool!
Other people comment on the wheels and interior, and say if looks very sporty! |

There is quite a bit of wheel gap compared to most cars. I've wondered if perhaps they should have chosen a higher profile tire. I'm tempted to lower it but likely will not. Hopefully the M Sport suspension will settle in over time.
I'm at the dealership at the moment and the wheel gap is about the same as the X6 M and less than a standard X5.

It's not been long, but so far no reactions/comments from anyone yet. And I drove a Mini Cooper when they were very first out and for 9 years. And then a Fiat when that first came out until now. I'm very used to getting comments from random people everywhere I go about my car! So I'll have to say it's nice so far to be in a less conspicuous car.

Mine was a custom order and the second BMW with midnight blue in Alaska. Some lady tried to buy it out from under me on the day it arrived! Big props to Scott Weys of Anchorage BMW for saving my car!

The most common comment..... "it's got a long nose".
Other than that, in stock form, the looks have garnered little attention. Those who have been for a ride were pretyy surprised at its pace though |

So far nobody notice what it is unless I smoke them from a stop light, then I see them pass by looking frustated with their mouth open.

it attracts some attention at my HS parking lot, not because it's a beemah' but because most people have never heard of an x1 and mine is in alpine white with red leather so it really stands out in a sea of grey, blue and black
