OBD2 dashboard apps

I'm looking at picking up and OBD2 dashboard app such as DashCommand.

I've downloaded the trial/lite versions of DashCommand and Torque so far and in my limited time playing with them like the look and feel of DC more. Flexibility seems to be the big thing with Torque. I've also looked at OBD Fusion, but only online.

I'm curious what others here have used, any comparisons you may have done and what your general thought are.

I use Torque. I like the ability to customize my screens completely and haven't had any issues with it over the 5+ years I've owned it. I also like the different types of displays available as well as the fault code reader.

I haven't used DashCommand so I can't comment on the comparison.

I don't use Torque continuously though, only when I'm concerned over something or want to see acceleration/stopping times.

Depending on what you're trying to get out of it there may be better options out there. Especially with how many are available on Kickstarter and such...

I'd say get a mechanical boost gauge before anything if looking to keep tabs on things.

Which BT adapter do you guys use and have you used it with a coding app? It'd be nice to find one adapter that will work for both coding and a Torque type app.

I have one for each. Cheap eBay ELM327 adapter for Torque and iCarly BT Gen 1 for BMWhat. I've never tried the iCarly adapter for the Torque app, but I know that BMWhat complains with the cheap adapter (and honestly I wouldn't trust coding my car to a cheap eBay adapter considering that if it fails I'm looking at thousands of dollars in repair bills).

Plus the eBay adapters are $5-$10 these days so might as well have two.

I use the Carly adapter for BMWhat coding and diagnostics, as well as running Dash Command. Works fine.

So tried DashCommand, if you want to use it over BT you need to buy one of the 'recommended' adapters, which start at $90. The $12 Amazon adapter works fine with Torque.

Is that on iOS or Android, because my $13 Amazon adapter (BT) works fine with DashCommand on my Android tablet.

Frankly I don't know if it is on a recommended list or not (it's a Panlong).

Android (Note 4). There's a list that you get to from a link in DashCommand settings. Which BT adapter do you have?

Here is the link, but this one looks different than mine. I don't recall if mine said anything about DashCommand, but it did specifically say it was compatible with Torque Pro. The version now shown in the link does specifically list DashCommand.

That's the wifi model in the link. I have the same make in BT and it doesn't work with Dashcommand.

Yea, I don't know why the link is going to that one. This is what the one I got looks like. It takes a little while to connect sometimes, but otherwise it works just fine.

The Amazon description was: Panlong Bluetooth OBD2 OBDII Car Diagnostic Scanner Check Engine Light for Android - Compatible with Torque Pro

That looks exactly like the one I have. I'll try it again.

Thanks!
