Annoying feature of USB console memory stick

I play mp3 music from a memory stick in my USB port at the console. Every time I stop and start the car the display reverts to the menu position showing the external device menu. I then have to click my way back to displaying the current song playing.

Has anyone found a way to keep the music system showing the current song playing? Does it have anything to do with the memory stick medium (storage capacity, format, label)?

And have anyone of your imported mp3 music through the USB port in the glove box?

Thank you and have a lovely day.

I have imported from the USB in the glove box. It works fine, but all the files get imported into a single folder on the car's hard drive. The importing process was clearly designed around CDs, where each CD you input gets named and organized in an easy to search fashion. I also do not know if the car takes an MP3 and copies or or recompressesses it, which would hurt quality. I'm no audiophile to be able to tell by listening.

Probably a glitch in your cars computer. When I am playing music from a USB stick in the console and turn off the car and then back on, the music resumes from the point where it left off.

Same for me. I did notice that it sometimes it goes back to the main music menu but it's not often.

Just a thought but it could be a sign of a discharged battery? If you have access to an appropriate charger try fully charging and see if that helps.

X3. Mine switches from radio to USB, car off/ car on. Always starts where the last song left off. I don't have iDrive, or opt. USB upgrade, and my head unit only displays the song title. Found out I have to add a piece of freeware to get it to play memory sticks on full random play.

My car also resumes playing the song I played when I left the car. Only the screen display has changed back to the source menu.

I am trying whether different USB sticks of different storage capacity and/or format could resolve the problem.
