Steering wheel paddles
Hi all
I swear when I first drove a 23d X1 that the paddles were the old push/pull style that BMW used to use but I drove one on Tuesday and it seems they've changed to the + and - paddles instead. Can anyone confirm this was a change for the MY11 cars? Thanks

Yes, it is now right paddle for shift up, left paddle for shift down (or the reverse ). But as far as I know, there are also 2010 cars with new paddles.

Thanks for the responses. Glad they've changed it. I like it a LOT better this way.

When I test drove 4-5 months ago, the diesel was one way and the 2.5 the other (I can't remember which was which). Mine arrived last week (23d) and it is as above.
Personally I think they are rubbish and prefer to use the stick (which has also changed direction from my 325i. Forward - up, back - down in the 3 series). I think paddles they are only handy if you were driving around a track and left your hands in the same position; something you don't do in everyday driving. |
