Sorry, it seems I got confused. I didn't realize that ND40oz was the one who made this comment to begin with:

"Plus, if you're going to go with an sDrive, you might as well just buy an F20 1er. "

So I both failed to recognize you as the OP he referred to in his latter comment and also failed to realize that I was actually replying to the very person who's comment I thought was misguided to begin with.

So, in short, your initial comment was not UK-specific, but his reply went OT for the thread. It was still valid commentary for you and he, but was not relevant for anyone in the US.

Is the X1 tall enough to put your road bike in standing up w/o the front wheel on with a fork holder.

Thanks

This might actually work.

Have you ever tried to fit your bike within a "3 series sports wagon"? The maesures are IMO quite similiar.

Yes, and the 3 touring is not tall enough. Might have to go outside with a rear rack. Thanks

The X1's cargo area is taller then the E91's, it's just not as deep.

In the original X3 two bike could stand on their forks in a rack.

How does the X1 compare to the original X3 size wise.

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea honestly, I've never been in the old X3. We rented an E91 and E84 last year so we could compare them side by side, the E91 was much easier to pack with luggage and still see out of the back then the E84. The E84 you had to pack the baggage higher to get the same amount in and it limited your rearward visibility.

What with the apparent tunability of the N20, I am wondering why anyone will buy the 35, unless it is truly special in some unknown factor. As of now, I'm looking at a 28 xdrive with Msport, Premium, heated seats and lights.
the options are priced different for the 28 and 35
if my math is right, those options are $8650 on the 28 and $5600 on the 35
so the price difference between the 28 and 35 with those options is about $3000, not $6000

no 8 speed transmission for the 35 definitely sucks though

I already tried to order a nearly loaded sdrive and the dealer has no information yet. Only want the 18" wheels with M Sport after my 19" M Sport experience with my 2007 X3. I priced it out using what's in the threads and it $44k. I owned two X3's (2004 and 2007) and it appears they are about 2.5 inches longer than the X1 according to the specs. I think the new X3 is 5.5 inches longer or about 3 inches longer than the old X3. The old X3 was sized fine for me but the ride and transmission both sucked. Gas mileage was fairly poor at around 18.5 mostly driving around Columbia,SC.
