The answer is yes because we have a 22 lb grandson we have used it for. It may depend on the brand of car seat and if it can adjust. We have a Maxi Cosi Pria70 we we just bought for $250 and it works.

I don't think there are three anchor positions (to put it in the middle) so to my eye yes, but it depends. Depends on how far the front seat(s) need to be pushed back for front occupants. BTW Lucky, any rear facing seat that I've had specified it HAS to be fully reclined for safety (taking up the most *******. OP- once they're turned, plenty of room for sure, rear facing in a full size convertible could be tight but once they're ~18 months you'll be turning them around anyway.

We test drove one the other day, put a rear facing seat (Keyfit 30) and it fits just fine.

Yes, infant seat like the keyfit no sweat, convertible like our britax boulevard could leave the front seat wanting in a rear facing config I'd imagine- try it out first to be sure!!

I'm using a rear facing baby seat now. One of those that could also be used as the baby grows older up to 4yo. My experience has been less than ideal in the X1. It's fitted on the left rear seat and the front passenger seat has to be pushed all the way to the front with enough legroom for a midget at best. That said there's no problem once the baby seat is used in front facing mode. This alone almost made me want to switch to a larger car but then I realise it's a 6 months issue

We had a capsule in the back for 9 months. Initially behind the passenger, but after 3 months I had it moved to the center because I couldn't fit in the passenger seat when my wife drove (I'm 6'2).

It was ok in the middle, but still restricted how far the front seats could go back.

The little fella (15mths) is in a forward facing seat now, fitted in the middle. Obviously no problems there.

You can fit a capsule, but it really all depends on its placement, as well as the height of the driver and front passengers.

If it wasn't just a short term problem we would have probably been forced to trade the X1 on something bigger tbh.
