E90 compatible parts?

Hi all, just wondering what other bmw e-series parts are compatible with the E84 X1?
Especially the e9x models as that's what it is based off on right?

Wheels
Brakes
Steering wheel (but LCI e84 is much nicer)
Suspension (springs and shocks?)
How about the sway bars?
Any M components?

It's really hit and miss all over the place.
An example would be the front suspension, we have the same control arms and sways as e9x but different spindle/wheel bearing/strut.
Same transfer case and transmission but different axles....
Then we have interior parts like the gas pedal used in f2x, f3x..but share an instrument cluster with e9x.
Fog lights from e83 and e70...
You get the idea.
I guess you could compare it to the z3 in terms of parts bin car status.

Anyone know which front seats are interchangeable the std seats in our X line aren't very supportive

You can run E90 coilovers with an adapter sleeve on the front struts. As mentioned above, the knuckle is a bit different.

The front swaybar is only compatible with E90 xdrives (assuming your X1 is awd), if it's RWD, any e90 front bar will work. Any front bushing/arm for an E90 xdrive works on the xdrive E84.

The rear suspension (sans spring/shock length) is all E90. Arms/bushings, etc. Technically, you can bolt on E90 shocks and springs.

M3 rear swaybars, subframe bushings, etc. all bolt right on out back (but Ms have different arms and spring shapes vs. standard E90s).

Wheels work, brakes work.

Sans the wider knuckle, you can think of an xdrve E84 as an E90 xdrive, with a taller ride height. As mentioned above, interior is another story.

You'll want the sport seats that have extra bolsters and extended leg thingy.

Wheels will with but the tires are different... E90's have smaller wheel diameters.

If you go to E60 the whole thing fits - wheel and tires.

They have a range of wheel diameters, just like the X1 does.

Maybe you meant tire diameters?

The tires are generally a size-down, yes. But you can certainly still run the slightly shorter (or taller) tire on the X1.

Huh I didn't know e9x had that low of offset, I always thought they were in the 40's.
What am I thinking of, M wheels?

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to be very selective considering e90 is older than e84 Therefore their parts would be older.
Is the front sways direct bolt on? What would I gain performance wider?

I can attest that e60 wheels and tires fit nicely as I am running a winter set from a 535xi. ET20 @19lbs. I like the they are more flushed too.

All of the stock wheels for the E90 are in the mid 30s I believe. Similar to the X1.

The M wheels are going to be even lower. Probably like 30 front, mid 20s rear or there abouts.

Edit, I get what you're saying.

Things like swaybars, etc. don't exactly age...so not much worry there. More importantly, you can used new/aftermarket E90 parts.

I can confirm e90 adjustable camber and toe arms fit. I'm currently sitting at the shop while they installed them and are doing the alignment now.

Curious what prompted you to do the swap?

My car is lowered aggressively so I needed a way to dial out some of the negative camber. Originally, I was at -3.5 and -3.8 rear camber. Now I'm at -2.25 rear camber and .22 toe out. I requested for zero toe, but the tech said he was highly against it and wouldn't be worth saving the minimal tire tread wear.

Tell me you mean .22 toe IN!

If not, never go back to that shop again. While I'm OK with 0 toe on this car, factory spec is more negative, with .22 out being way out of spec). Even zero toe on a RWD E90 makes for a rear-end that's arguably too jumpy for the street. .22 toe out would be boarderline undriveable.

lol... yes, toe in. I'll post my alignment diagram later... Right now, they are installing my ER downpipe on the N20.

Search the OEM part number and check if its the same for both cars
