X1 - Park Distance Control (Canada pricing?)
I recently purchased a 2012 X1 here in Canada on June 24th. When I first received my vehicle (within the first 1/2 hr), I noticed there was an oil leak. I took it back to the dealership and they indicated it was a seal. BMW Canada wants to ship my engine back to Germany to investigate (apparenntly, this hasn't happened before) while they send me a new engine. They have given me a brand new 528i to drive in the meantime. In driving this vehicle, it has the Park Distance Control, which I have grown rather fond of. I looked on the BMW Canada website and noticed the "Park Distance Control" as an accessory.
Has anyone had this installed at the dealership as an aftermarket option? If so, what were the costs? Any information would be greatly appreciated. |

You will be looking for an aftermarket... me too I'm still looking for one.
So far, I've found this... http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en No drilling needed, hiding sensor... |

What I was referring to was actually from the BMW Canada website under Owners>>Accessories under BMW X1 "Communications and information". There is an option for the Park Distance Control. There is just no real information or pricing on the website. I wasn't sure if anyone had this done before? |

Yes, it is listed there as accessories, but it should be a factory option accessories.
Dealer can retrofit them, but it will cost you a leg and arm to try to fit the factory option into the car.... |

It is a factory option and it is also an accessory. But like a lot of things in life, it is cheaper to order it in the first place rather than retrofit it afterwards.

I've been basically waiting for a month to get this fixed. The dealership has been very good, and feel bad about making me wait. I want to see if I can either get this feature included on get a good deal (hence asking the price). Thanks for the feedback. |

I don't think you'll find anyone that has done it. Best to ask dealer for what the cost is and negotiate. Big cost is the bumper. Do they need a new one or can they drill the holes for th sensors or ? Sensors probably with $150 and then there is the software charge.
Also ask an auto body shop what it would cost for OEM.
