BMW Connected iPhone app

I don't this doesn't work on the X1 but does anyone knows if there might be a software upgrade that allows us to use it?

My wife uses it on her iPhone and can lock, un-lock and send navigation data via maps. She thinks it's great although the app. does say it can do more

afaik it works on all 03/2011 onward built x1 that configured the "bmw apps" option
retrofitting is not (yet/officially) supported.

I've decided to get Nav and the BMW app. The way I figure it, a lot can happen over our 6 year ownership of the car. And this way we won't be left out.
