Well semi-bad news. The Dinan flash would not work because my X1 is too new (prod 11/12) and Dinan needs some disk from BMW forthe newer units. So they'll have to send off for the disks. Once they get them they already have my vehicle info and can encode it. It might be by the end of the week, but no promises. So for now no tune, no dyno.

Just to let you know that I left my wife car with DINAN in Morgan Hill CA this monday. They told me that I should get it back by Friday for Stage 1 and 2 performance software development for the 2013 X1 35i xDrive M Sport. I will call them tomorrow to check on it and will keep you posted.

When you talk to them ask them to please also look and see if the Dinan exhaust for the 135i will fit on the X1 35i. If so they (and we) have an instant product for the X1. Several seem to think they are the same parts.

I guess this is what you are looking for below, I will ask if okay with X1.It should be easy for DINAN to check it as they have my car. Did you experience the sound on the 135i?

D660-0025-BLK
Dinan's free flow exhaust for the 135 improves exhaust flow by reducing back pressure, resulting in increased power output and a great sporty sound

Yeah that's the one. I'm thinking the same thing in that their folks should be able to have a look at your X1 with it there and determine if that exhaust fits the X1 35i. Here's video of one person's

Thank you CIWS and Cfrem15, just a quick update tonight.
DINAN I got an "answer" about the exhaust, Dan said that he will need my car more to look at it...I told him to concentrate on the Stage 1 and 2 performance software first and that the "boss" will need his car on friday. I mentioned also that people on the forum wanted to hear about the DINAN exhaust for the X1 35i.
I ordered the cable for the Alpina B3 flash at info@one-stop-electronics.com and started to read all bout it. I sent a PM to Alex@Alpine but did not get any answer yet.
Will update back on friday after getting the car back from DINAN. Thanks.

Good news. No doubt man, tell them to concentrate on the software and get your car back. The software is going to appeal to a lot more folks than the exhaust. (including me) Thanks for the update.

The dyno that I had originally scheduled for this morning thinking it would be to test the Dinan tune, I'm going to go ahead and do today in order to test the vehicle with the Burger N55 CAI on vs stock. The X1 is stock with the exception of the CAI on now. Any one taking bets on whether it will show any real gains at the wheels ? Bueller, Bueller, Bueller . .

5-10 whp throughout the range... either way excited to see you doing some real comparison testing, Love it.

In regards to the Alpina flash, Alpine said it was not compatible... But he is incorrect.. Talk to cn555ic on the forums, he will be able to help you out.

Dyno from today with the N55 CAI on. Dotted line is fully stock run.

So it's actually showing to be a little below stock power, but we think that's just the car's ECM and it's boost adjustments with the cold (stock run was 72 deg, today was 42) However no noticeable gains (not that I expected any) just like with most CAIs on stock or lightly mod'd cars. Yes there's audibly more whine and whoosh from the turbo, but the stock box seems to breath just fine, actually a little better at high rpms.

Also notice the shape of the acceleration curves are back to almost the same with the "octane booster" pulled back off the car.

So get it if you want the more noticeable turbo sound with the car and the cool look under the hood, but if you're looking for solid power gains, this really isn't it on the stock car. That's just my opinion, and we all know they're like acorns

Edit - Also note that initially up to about 2100-2200rpms it's actually higher than stock in both pwr and tq. But after that point it drops below stock and stays below.

Good news. If yours is tuned then they should indeed be able to do others. Hopefully they'll get those codes soon and finish mine.

Just out of curiosity, did the car have time to adapt to the Intake?

It was on the car for three days before it was dyno'd. I wanted to make sure it had time to adjust to being on the car vs the tendency to swap the CAI and immediately test it before it has time to be on the car for a few days. That usually produces false high readings before the ECM adjusts to the different air flow.

This really isn't that surprising data. Very common that CAI's really don't add real power, unless it was a poorly designed stock intake, has been purposely restricted to reduce noise like the supercharged Cadillacs. (They restrict the intake air to keep the supercharger whine down) Or one starts adding multiple mods and a tune is tweaked with those mods and the CAI.

This thread is great, looking to get a '14 X1 35i when my current lease is up in July. Was also starting to research Cobb AP, Dinan, and burger tuning for what was out there for this vehicle. Keep the info coming....
