X1 automatic vs F30 sport automatic - Huge Difference

EDIT - There is a night and day difference between my x1 automatic and my wife's F30 automatic equipped with the sport automatic option. I knew I wasn't hallucinating.

Seems like F30 guys are coding their nonsport automatics to sport automatics too. Can we do this?

Garage List
You should try resetting the Adaptive Driver Memory for the Automatic Transmission on both, maybe then they will be the same.
Maybe your wife is more agressive than you😀

The X1 doesn't have DCT.

I guess I didn't Seems like both are ZF 8HP45 automatics. But that being said, the adaptive feature is not turned on in Driver Sport mode so I'm still not sure why the f30/e84 feel so different while driving aggressively through the gears.

They both have the n20 motor with 8 speed DCT, so shouldn't they feel the same?
I pretty sure your 328 has an N26 not a N20, that's why it feels different

It's how it is programmed

A great example is in my F80, when I'm in S2 mode, the gear shifts are smooth, but in S3, there the shifts are much more aggressive and can be felt

Same exactly car and gearbox, just a difference in programming

Is there a way to program the X1 similar to an f30/f80?

The Alpina transmission flash gets close but, as others stated, the X1 is limited by hardware since it doesn't have DCT.

The Alina transmission flash only works on the 6-speed 35i variant, it doesn't work on OP's car

So, is the general consensus that the X1 with N20 shifts pretty smoothly without a kick? I never drove another x1 before, so I just want to make sure mine is normal.

If gearbox is shifting smoothly and you think the shifts are fast, its good to go

I keep my M3 in S2; there's no advantage to having my neck snapped into the headrest after each gear change

I think I figured out the difference.

f30 328i sport automatic vs x1 s28i automatic (standard)

My wife's f30 has the sport automatic option and it's a night a day difference. Seems like some F30 guys are able to code their nonsports to sports too. Do you guys think it's possible with the x1?

Check this link out.

It's the first I'm hearing of it. Given its an F platform I'm not sure it would be possible, but I am very interested if anyone has done anything like this....

F chassis use different transmission control module than E chassis.

If you can find an E-series car with a sport-programmed auto...you can likely flash your trans.
