Hated my X1 until I made two changes.

I was ready to purchase a Alfa Romeo Giulia and loved the car but my daughter (8 years old) kept saying, “Daddy please buy the BMW”. She was embarrassing me by saying it in front of the Alfa sales person. I finally asked her why and she said the seat hurts. So I sat in the back of the Giulia and yes those seats suck in the back.

So I Purchased the X1 and the first day I hated it. Then I replaced the runflats (horrible harsh ride) with non run flats and I took a trip to Relax the Back store and now I enjoy driving the X1.

I have been a little nervous with the negative stuff in here about timing belts and Intake carbon. I did however purchase a 4 years unlimited mileage warranty from BMW.

My car is 2015 with navigation, power seats, sunroof, Hamon Audio and active headlights (love them). So it is very well equipped.

It’s a love it or hate it color, I happen to really love it. Tired of the same old greys, whites and blacks.

If you don't mind me asking (maybe PM me the answer, if you do mind), what did you pay for this beautiful X1 with the BMW warranty?

To each his own, but with stock non-msport setup I don't get why people hate the run flats. I don't drive on cobble stone, but I like the stiffness and performance is good to me. Maybe I'll switch to non RFT for a set and see the difference.

I have had zero problems with the Goodyear RFTs that came with the car and when I switch to winter Snows, which I recently did, I honestly do not appreciate any softening of the ride. My RFTs have 45,000 miles on them and still have 40% of tread remaining. They do not seem to wear out very fast and are wearing evenly from center to edge. I do rotate them every 6000 miles and I think that helps.

My stock Continental RFTs are fine on the road. Where it gets discombobulated is hitting uneven surfaces or bumps. They seem to crash over it ungracefully compared to regular tires.

I have the new generation BridgeStone runflats on my X1.
The ride comfort is very nice even though I also have the Sport Package and staggered wheel sizes. I have zero complaints about the ride.
I also like the idea of just driving over to the Tire Shop if I get a warning about a flat tire. Sure beats changing tires at night, in a storm, in snow, on a freeway, etc etc.
I didn't like the RFT concept at first but now that I own the Bridgetone latest generation I am a fan.
