m performance sterring wheel retrofit

I'm crazy about the m performance led steering wheel.
Nevertheless, the Chinese vendor sell it at very high price, almost 2000 USD.
I know they order it from overseas as well and i want to do it myself, can anybody tell me where i can order these kind of things?
Cheers.

Wow, i just had my wheel and shift knob retrofitted last week.
You don't want to pop off when you touch the wheel. Amazing.

I don't think the X1 has the necessary wiring for the BWM M Electronic Performance Steering Wheel. BMW lists it as only being available for the 1 series and newer 3 series, i.e. F20-21, F30-31. No E models.

As for the price, if $2000 is for a complete wheel including the IR transmitter/receiver, that's less than what BMW charges here in the US.

It was pretty easy wasn't it? I retrofitted an M5 wheel on my E39. The M Tech wheel is even nicer.

Yes, it's easy and you can do it yourself.

Does it have the necessary hook-up for oil and water temperature display when put in an X1?

If you look at the original post, he retrofitted the M Tech wheel that comes standard with the M Sport. Not the electronic wheel.

Yeah, that's a different kettle of fish. The top post says the LED steering wheel, though, and before it was updated with a pic of what was put in, one had to assume that was what was meant.

I'm still looking into how much work it will take to get my M Tech steering wheel replaced with a MOMO and standalone paddles. I just don't like heavy steering wheels with airbags and convenience buttons. Yes, I'm in a minority.

I'm not sure what you mean by popping off... Is that a Chinese idiom?

I sourced this one and an M-Sport fascia on ebay and just used my existing airbag, Multi-function controls and paddles. Fits perfectly and everything works!

Although it has been six years since there has been a post in this thread, I am really looking to buy this steering wheel for my E87 BMW 120d. I have looked around but I can only find the other one, with the silver bits.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me find this steering wheel.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Moes.
