Me. Use a dry filter only. Unless you want to clean sensors and what not.

I don't feel any gain, only thing I notice is my wastegate makes a lot of noise.

Maybe with the addition of the down pipe on Friday, there'll be a use to it. I may go back to the factory box with a drop in dry filter if someone makes one. Or just use the factory BMW filter.

Twix, I am getting Dinan on Fri. Curious, did you do AFE prior, after, or same time as Dinan? Does the intake make any good sounds or not at all?

Thx!

Twix, would you happen to have any audio clips of the wastegate sound? I wouldn't mind a little sound, but I don't want to go full "Fast and Furious," considering the fact that there are 8 tranny shifts involved.

I remember joking about how many times Paul Walker shifted the Eclipse in the parking lot scene at the beginning of the original FATF. You could hear him blow off like 8 or 9 times. Could be true for us.

I don't have audio of the waste gate but out it this way. You can hear me lift my throttle blocks and blocks away.

I did the intake long before the Dinan tune, or any tune. Neither the JB4 or Dinan affected the loudness of the waste gate. If you don't want fast and furious ricer sounds, don't get the aFe. It literally sounds like the most annoying ricer car ever, and is even louder with the ER downpipes installed.

AFE Intake N20 X1

Agree, the AFE intake is getting old. even if your just slightly boosting, you get aloud suction noise, and then when you let off, you get a wastage air release.
PSSSSSHhhhh.

It only sounds good when you fully floor it, then you get a clean turbo spool sound.

I'm getting K&N drop-in filter this week, decided not to bother with intake either.

The other annoying thing with the aFe is the turbo noise at highway speeds. It's loud, and never goes away.

As for drop ins, I've never liked K&N. Too much work for me to keep the MAF and the filter clean. I find the oil is good, but almost too good at cleaning the charge air. If you live somewhere dry and dusty, you'll need to clean it far more often than recommended intervals.

Dry filters are the way to go, they work very well and won't ruin sensors with oil, and are far easier to clean, dry and reinstall compared to oiled filters.

Was reading this lately as well, thinking about returning the k&n drop-in air-filter since i bought thru amazon and continue to use stock until maintenance runs out ? I didnt get the oil-filter though
