xDrive 28i MPG observed
I'm curious to know what mileage folks are getting with xDrive 28i compared to what is being stated 22/33.
Also, does xDrive offer drive an option to turn off AWD, or like other BMWs there's no way for driver to manually turn on/off AWD, the system automatically decides. Thanks! |

I wonder what kind of code THAT would trip...
What's impressive about the X1 isn't so much the gas mileage, but that it has very low emissions for a crossover with decent HP. In the US, that doesn't matter so much for your wallet as in countries where taxes are based on emissions. But it still should make you feel better |

i'm in southern california and trying to decide between the Sdrive and the Xdrive. The all wheel drive definitely feels better on the road but was wondering how much it affects mpg since i really don't need it in los angeles. any thoughts? why about reliabiity?

Where I live in South Carolina the dealer is selling more sdrives because it doesn't snow here and they can order them and keep them under $40k which is hard to hit with a 3 series. The EPA estimate is fairly close but maybe a little generous and you'll probably get about 22 in true stop and go city driving. I've gotten about 31 on true hwy driving but well above the speed limit. S drive is probably about 1 mpg better in town as much due to weight as mechanics.

Recent trip from Chesapeake to Frederick MD and back yielded an average of 24MPGs with about 75% highway diving...although the highway driving was 70+ MPH and the X was well loaded.
So the short answer is NO. But with only 1.3K on the clock I expect improvement. |
