Wrong! On another board, someone responded and said that the fobs are different, and have a silver surround. I also watched a review of a 2015 X1 on YouTube and the fob was different. So, I'm getting conflicting answers.

I work at a BMW dealer. The F chassis cars have the key you are referring to. I've never seen an X1 key with that design.

This is a still from a YouTube review of a 2015 X1 sdrive28i. As you can see, the remote is different from the remote I have for my 2013 X1 xdrive28i. My current remote is the same as I had with my 2008 328xi coupe. Luckily, you work in a dealership so I can get an explanation. It's been bugging me.

A responder on another board also stated that their 2015 remote had a "silver surround." Wondering why some of the remotes are different.

I have yet to see an x1 come in with that key. We havent gotten any new ones yet (late model production) so maybe they changed it later in the year

that is weird... the X1 doesn't have keyless start feature standard and the new keys only come with cars with keyless start. I doubt the new key will fit in the slot...

That's why I've been asking. I saw this video and someone else said there was a silver surround on the fob. Very strange.

this is really odd, unless they modded the key slot also. My f10 550i keys definitely don't fit in my X1's slot.

Yes, very odd. I guess I'll find out when my 2015 arrives from Germany.

It's similar but the one in the video has a red panic button too.

It would help if any 2015 owners will chime in and post a pic of there key slot. If the key is indeed different, than the slot must be bigger.

He didn't. But then he got in and started the car using comfort access.

Maybe he had the old key in the pocket, thus he was able to start the car
