Hi Newbee, welcome here
Not sure if you have seen but there is another thread with some discussion around this. One of the forum members Jaxxsson, was looking into it. http://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=460753

I've seen that topic.
But I was wondering what to do if you just want both to illuminated (not only the corners) . At this moment no aftermarket yet from BMW. If somebody can help , please post. |

Luminated inner taillights
Hello all
For all owners which like to have luminated inner taillights without xenon headlights it seems their is a way to get this done by first replacing the standard taillights by the LED taillights and than connect the replaced LED taillights onto the wiring of the tail numberplate powercable since the tail numberplate is already LED. After replacing taillights the OBD codes need to be reprogrammed this is what I have been told. A guy in Germany I've been talking to said to me he is able to adjust the BMW factory pre-installed car's software by OBD recoding told me that each Bimmer which leaves the factory has same software. This means a X1 intended for the Dutch market has same car software like an car intended for US market, so the US front side indicators which are illuminated continuously can by switched on the Dutch market car by recoding which needs to be done by special software and a computer which is contected to vehicle by a OBD cable. For anyone who is interested. http://www.car-coding.de Perhaps this will be of help for the X1 owners without the xenon headlights in combination with the very attractive LED taillights VBR|Loek the dutchie |

Is that deep sea blue metallic paint that you have? I've got a sDrive 18i in that colour with the exact same wheels as you do! I'm situated in Sydney though not Melbourne. I've also looked into upgrading the taillights to the LCI's. But there's too much trouble, and not exactly cheap to purchase and install.
