Bye X1 Forum!

Hi all. Well I joined the forum not long after purchasing my first BMW, a 2013 s28 X1 in November 2012. I had planned on keeping it longer than I ended up doing, as I just sold it (don't ask for how much) to make the switch to the i3. It boils down to the HOV sticker for my commute in Los Angeles. I have two years left for my planned retirement, and I just had to do something to make the commute more bearable. Plus, the i3 may be funky looking and not the vehicle for long trips, but it's a blast to drive and perfect for the city. I do have a second vehicle for any long trips.

So goodbye, X1 people! Enjoy your vehicles. Mine was pretty much problem free. I hope the next owner enjoys it as much as I did.

Because I want to live with my skin and bones intact? Something like that! Just giving you excrement, thanks, enjoy yours too.

On the sold X1? OK you do the KM calculation. It had 55000+ miles when I sold it. No issues after two "bumps" the first year - the low coolant thing, and in the first week, a brief episode where the engine malfunction light came on. X1 went into limp mode. Turned it off then on (famous "IT Crowd" advice) and it drove normally, and the dealer service said, "yeah, just break-in hiccup," which it turned out to be. Last few years were smooth sailing/driving.

I will say, after test-driving the i3, driving the X1 seemed heavy and loud. But I loved my first years of ownership.

I'm an i3 owner and my wife drives an Msport X1. I agree about heavy and loud completely. We thought her car was pretty quiet until we started driving the i3. I drive into LA every few weeks and the HOV is worth it's weight in Myrrh.

Did you try the Chevrolet Bolt? It would seem alot more useful.

I did not test drive the Bolt. It seems to be a fine vehicle. But the i3 meets all the needs I have for it. It's fun to drive, pleasant environment, and the range is more than adequate for my needs. My work round-trip commute is about 40 miles, but so far my experience is, with heavy LA traffic, my range only goes down about 15 miles from start to end of my work day commute. Thank you, brake regen! So I don't even need to charge it every night. And for longer trips, I also have a gas engine vehicle...
