Will the existing in-car BMW wireless chargers work with the new iPhone X?

With new iPhones due out today do we think the BMW built in wireless charger will qualify as "made for iPhone"? Sounds like Apple is going limit the Qi devices they will allow the phones to interact with.

It's going to be announced today. Rumors have it not releasing until the 22nd of September (probably accurate). If it works or not nobody will really know until we have specs on their wireless charging standard. There will be plenty of articles out on what are the "best" Qi chargers to get.

According to this article, it should work if it's the traditional Qi charger standard. Looks like Apple's first party offering is delayed.

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/12/ipho...-says-kgi.html

Samsungs fast Qi chargers are usually the best in terms of speed. IIRC they could charge 20 minutes faster than regular Qi chargers from empty to full, however, that was still 45 minutes slower than a plugged in charge.

iPhone 6/6s/7 Plus doesn't fit. It looks like iPhone X is ever so slightly smaller because of the lack of bezel. I am very hopeful it will fit in the cradle. Has anyone compared measurements?

Being able to use to the car antenna and the wireless charging would be very nice.

its not smaller from the dimensions that i saw. could have been the prototype though.

personally, i am going with the 8 or 8+, as i skipped the 7. wireless + new iOS features is enough for me. next year the rest of the changes might make it down to the other models.

Apples site has the dimensions... x is a slightly bigger than std 6/7/8 form factor but in that class, not in the plus category

Yeah, and the Plus phone barely didn't fit into my M2's cradle while I was on ED. So I'm hoping the X will fit, making that cradle actually usable, which would be great.

It will fit 100% since my Galaxy S8 fits and if you see in this video, the iPhone X is slightly shorter in length so no problem.

So the new wireless charging in bmws includes antenna use?

The way it's always been explained to me is that the external antenna is positioned in such a way - and/or wired in such a way - that when your phone is in the cradle it benefits from the external shark fin antenna, and reduces in-cabin radiation.
