I got my car back from Friday evening. Bumpers done, mirror done, wheel spacers (and stuff) done. Looks total different with the painted parts. Will order the grill en side strips now (when Leebmann answers me I will order).

Changed the led for the side markers en the orange bulb from the front side markers to a silver bulb, small details.

Car is still dirty, even after car wash en cleaning my interior I still see that white dust that the polish leaves. Will go to professional car cleaning (hand) car wash in the next day's and ask for a good detailed cleaning. (If they can't get it off, nobody can and I got back to the bodywork shop).

So no pictures yet.
To get the idea, it is like Schnitzer, with the painted bumpers in bodywork color.

Back to body work shop. Can't get the polish junk off. Even the interior has some spots from it. Car-wash told me they won't get it off (tried on small surface in- and out side).

Can't wait to see the pics of the finished product! Even if just teaser photos from your camera phone.

Thinking about it.
As for a M3 sway-bar with STI links for the rear.
Anyone knows if it will fit with my lowered suspension?

Looks very good!
What primer did you use before painting it? Or what process did you guys used to cover the black non-smooth surface?

Thanks!

I can't help you however since I didn't do the work myself.
The body work shop did all the work.
They told me it was a lot of work getting out that structure and it needed several layers off primer.

Good luck.

I do have some other small (optical tuning) plans but first the vehicle inspection and just payed for new front brake discs. New battery and plans are pending.

Leebmann is most of the time cheaper then the BMW dealer but still OEM.
Germany is next to Belgium so I don't know if they ship over sea's.

The strips where more expensive then at BMW so on Monday I will order them at the local BMW dealer. (Already asked the price and part numbers before.)

I have Vinyl Care/Cleaner to do the inside of my non leather parts. It says it's a good cleaner for Exterior Plastic and Rubber Trims.

Having recently Polished my car I was left with the same White Dust/Patches over my cars bottom black parts and couldn't wash off.

I sprayed Vinyl Care on a small soft bristle Nail Brush and rub on getting between paint and black bottom parts. Leave around 1 Min. give or take and wipe off with some clean rags. Comes up like brand new.

Today the tires where placed and the wheels fitted.
Still to come (I hope end this month, delivery date sucks) is the B12 Eibach/Bilstein kit to lower 25mm and some wheel spacers on the rear, probably 15mm or 20mm. This lowering kit should be safer (and nicer looking I hope) then my stock suspension. As good as a M suspension but more comfortable. I hope it is true.

For now the rims look small, hope this will change with the lowering and spacers.
Stock 18" rims are for winter tires and yearly car inspection.
You don't notice and that is just fine, the brake's are painted black, it is more clean then stock. Didn't wanted to go for red because the brake disc are so small looking and the brake's itself aren't big and flat like a M model.

BTW: If ppl want to know.
All 4 sides 20x8J with 225/35/20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport non runflats.
405 M Performance (normally for F3x, new 3 series, front wheels) ET30 so they come 6mm more to the inside but fits and looks perfect in the front, the rear fits perfect but just doesn't look so.
Looks amazing! Great choice!

Update but no new pictures yet.
Since today my black kidney's (grill) are placed as the black side strips (beneath the windows).
And tomorrow my summer wheels will be placed back.
The winter did some harm to my stock rims however, chippings and salt.
Vehicle inspection done so good for the next 2 years and the new battery is also placed.

Next upgrade will be in a couple of weeks.
The stuff is ordered: paint for lights, reflectors, tail pipe, front brake rotors (because of new discs) and spacers (doing them again, wasn't good).

Thank you.
No, when you see it in real front spacers wouldn't look nice.
I'm not a fan of spacers either due to longer bolts.

The rear spacer are really needed for the looks.
And those are double so strong with the stock bolts.

Still driving with my winter rims, the change is for next week.
Was looking at price for used 135i, 235i, A45AMG, CLA45AMG, Cayman but my I think I will keep my car for several years.
Would not be good to spend more money just for the raw power upgrade.
Would not be smart now I spende some time and money to put my car the way she is.

Thank you for your quick answer.

I don't think longer bolts are such an issue, at least I will not be afraid to use them.

And thanks again for sharing your findings.

Could be that the longer bolts are a bigger problem in my head then actual for the safety of the car.

I think the rim looks nice like it is. The ET is 36 (3 series) against the 30 (stock X1 rim) so I was afraid for this since it goos 6mm more to the inside.

No problems rubbing and optical very good on the front side.
At the rear without the 20mm spacers the rim is to far to the inside, optical that is (8J ET36 also) so with the 20mm extra optical it is perfect. The rear tires could stand a little bit wider then the front. I did choose for the same dimension of rim/tires for the xdrive.

The 405 style rim is a design that is flat, that makes it that you don't need a rim that is very wide. It looks very high (20" does look like 20", lol) and it is light weight (this is the reason I wanted OEM stuff and not replicas), they're actually lighter then my stock 18", the non run flats safe some weight to.

A friend of me was asking about them but he drives a F10 530d so I advised him not to buy the same rims as me but to go for the M6GC 20" (9.5J for the front axle, would fit at the rear but not in the front on the X1) or the 7 series 21" (8.5J but couldn't find that low profile tire for our X1). I'll post a picture of both of them. They're very bad ass.

Thank you very much for those addtional information. I misunderstood and thought you had an Et30. So that's 8" ET36. That's great, it will help me a lot.

Cheers

Stock is 8J ET30 with 225 tires.
405M style (from 3 series) is 8J (front) ET36, I have chosen for same 225 tires.

The 6mm to the inside is no problem, plenty of space between wheel and shock (they told me you need to get your finger in between). I don't really notice it against my stock rims with the naked eye.

ET 40 (1 series?) and above wouldn't fit I guess (it will with spacers). ET 28 and lower would fit but remember you rim goos to the outside so don't over due it.

http://www.willtheyfit.com/
-> Calculate stock vs desired dimensions to get a idea.

http://www.leebmann24.de/
-> Window shopping rims (from different series) and get the technical data.
You could order the front rims separately. However it is from Germany, it is a neighbor from Belgium so shipping cost was almost nothing for me.

I hope that helps and could inspire more ppl.
Post your pics (in separate post, lol) when you do have your new rims.
