Now that is real beauty - pretty price point too no doubt!

My question is, how much are they going to be, a brand new Z4 sdrive35is can push 75000. I'm sorry that is way to much money considering it not even a M car, and a nicely optioned M3/M4 can be had for 75000. Hopefully with the involvement of Toyota the price will be in the 50/60 range.

^Hopefully BMW offers more bang for the buck with the new Z. In that price range I would rather just get a F-type.

Fairly large, looks like a blend of the previous Z5 (tail) and it's got a intresting front, and it looks bigger than the old Z4 as well. Looking forward to this, allthough i rather see a smaller sibling with a slightly massaged B38 on board, and a stick of course.

I'll keep the M4 too. For the laughs and the 2 extra seats.
Sorry but that's a face only a mother can love. The SL used to be a pretty car, now when I look at them Shrek comes to mind.

Agreed. My local dealer in Canada has had a very nice looking brand new 2016 Z4 SDrive 28i in their showroom for over a year now. The mind boggling price of $67000 Cdn may have something to do with it. It truly is a lovely looking car but the price is simply out to lunch. Bear in mind - I'm as big a BMW roadster fan as you can find. But if BMW wants to make an impact with the new Z5, it has to be good and they have to price it reasonably. Otherwise, Porsche and Mercedes' roadsters will keep outselling BMW by a wide margin.

Which local dealer?

Cause you know when the Z5 hits the floor that Z4 will be the deal of the year.

I always love seeing German roadsters and convertibles undergoing serious winter testing. Everybody knows these cars probably won't ever be driven in such circumstances. But the ingrained German precision requires that they be capable of doing so anyway!

Yup.

A car slightly larger then the current z4 with even more numb electric steering, smaller engines and a shared platform with a Toyota. Likely at a similar price point as the current car ...

Basically it sounds like an exercise in how to purposely make the least exciting roadster you can

I have a feeling bmw sees this market as totally dead so they just said: let's share the platform with Toyota in order to make the car on the absolute cheap and then give it great styling and sell to the morons who buy cars based on looks only.

Who knows, maybe this formula will work in some markets, couldn't imagine it will work at all in the USA.

Say what you will about porsche and mercedes roadsters, they have stayed laser focused on their interpretation of what a roadster is and have created massive icons for their respective companies.

Bmw has gone out to lunch

Maybe spend 1 day in a Boxster and you will know exactly why.

USA sales 2015
Mercedes sl 4060
Mercedes slk 4182
BMW Z4 1829

And that's despite the sl being twice as expensive as the z4.

Yes the mercedes sl is an icon. A very very well known icon.

There you go looking stupid again for saying stupid things.

I know why you said that ... the driver sits really close to steering wheel and there is so much space between seat and roll over protection ... but it isn't a 2+2.

Price? I almost got a Boxster GTS about a year or so ago. But just couldn't stomach the almost $100k pricing, maintenance cost, etc. My Z4 was about $63k.

I for one don't mind a bit of comfort with my roadster.

I love how people criticize a car that isn't even out yet and have absolutely no details on how it's going to look or drive. Hopefully creating the car with Toyota has helped with development costs and therefore they can put out a better product at the price range.

Has it really gone that high? I have 2014 35is with all the trimmings, out the door was 65k.

btw as someone mentioned they'd go to an f-type at that price....GOOD LUCK. I tried to get an equally equipped F-type and when it was all said and done I was looking at 93k. GTFO...BMW Z4 is the best bang for the buck for a lux roadster, and it can be daily driven...
