Sun roof panel issue
I've got a E84 and the front sun roof panel liner is sagging. My shop told me that the whole panel needs to be replaced and that it'll be around $700-800. I can't pay that at the moment so my question is, how would I do it myself? I've got basic tools, just need a guide or video to follow or just somewhere to begin.
Thanks in advance! |

Your lucky. I was quoted $2500 from dealer and about $1800 from local shop. Whole headliner has to be dropped and you should replace plastic guide clips also.
Rip the material off and just slide the panel into the roof and leave the sunroof exposed |

I guess I am lucky. I'm eating the fabric off today if is not raining and I'll slide the panel back until I can figure the removal

The price quote is not unreasonable. Think of the depreciated value with current condition. |

I am not 100% sure about this but in my Audi (2009 A4) I can remove the glass (3 bolts on each side) and then remove the shade from outside.
The difference here is the second shade... If you can remove the shade from the outside you can buy some headliner adhesive in autozone and use a new or the same fabric. Hopefully this helps, it worked in my Audi and an old e46. Check this out... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=717Q8A8rhtQ |

Got the front panel off this weekend :woot: but now the back panel is stuck open and won't come out. Also l, the bracket that the front panel slides into is loose. Is that because of broken guide clips?
Thanks again for the help! |
