Stock wheel/tire weights
Has anyone actually weighed the stock 18" and/or 19" wheels? I try to reduce the unsprung weight on all of my cars and are looking at the below wheels from Enkei.
Enkei Tuning Raijin Backspacing: 5.67" - 32mm offset Bolt Pattern: 5-120 Rec. Tire Size:225/45-18 Weight: 20.7lbs. Backspacing: 6.22" - 38mm offset Bolt Pattern: 5-120 Rec. Tire Size:255/40-18 Weight: 21.4lbs. |

If someone has stock 18"s maybe he\she will weigh one for you.
According to BMWwheelstyle, the popular style 322 wheels weigh 28.6lbs(13kg) According to TireRack, the Enkei Raijins are cast aluminum. Be sure and find some feedback from people who've used them on a car as heavy as the X1, as they may not be up to the task of long term street use. |

Good point, It's said that RFT's add significant weight to the wheel/tire combo. It wouldn't surprise me then if the stock 18's w/ the RFT's are 60+ lbs. each. I should be able to easily shave that down to under 50 lbs for all 4 with aftermarket wheels and non RFT's.... every 10 lbs. or so of reduced unsprung weight is approx. equal to 1 hp increase....

I once looked up the OEM tires for the 17" wheels, and they were 5.5 lbs heavier than the non RF version. That's pretty significant. Also, the tire is the outer most diameter of the rotating mass. That would likely make tire weight more significant than the weight of the wheel or rotors.

My X1 came with the 18" 355 M style, they feel like a little under 25 lbs for the front over 25 lbs for the rear.
