Comfort Access - Car Washing

When washing your car quick at a self serve car wash, is there any way to disable the door handle comfort access locking and unlocking?

Naturally I'd leave the keys in the car but I only have one set and I have no idea if the doors will lock with the key inside the car vs outside... don't really feel like testing that.

Any ideas?

I've tried to lock the car multiple times thinking the key was in my pocket when it was actually in the car. It never locked.

Depending on your car, you can call BMW to unlock it if it ever happens.

You can have the metal key in your pocket and the fob in thw car. That way if it locks by accident you can still unlock the car.

I don't know about having the key in the front, but I know you cannot lock it in if it is the back. A couple of times upon leaving the gym my key has been in my backpack and I always throw it in the hatch. When I close the hatch it beeps at me a few times to tell me the key is not supposed to be there.

The few times I forgot my key, it was either on the passenger's seat or in the little cubby by the shifter. Still never locked.

Be aware that if the battery in the key fob is low the car can lock from the outside while the key is inside. It happened to me once.

Good to know. So how much is it to buy and program a fob?

I think it's something like $500 from the dealer. Not sure you'd be able to do it yourself, and definitely not much cheaper given the equipment required for it.
