Not easily, but you can soften it and make it look less rough by cleaning with glycerine soap ("castile soap") and re-wax with a beeswax based product - don't use petroleum based finishers if you can help it, as they tend to dry out the leather.

Saddle soap can be also be used to soften leather, but sparingly and only with a thorough cleaning and brushing afterwards, because leftovers can damage the leather - it's pretty alkaline. It does make leather look and feel good, though.
