Harmon Kardon upgrade?

For anyone who has the basic sound system in their 2.8, has anyone considered an upgrade or did you get a chance to listen to an X1 with the HK surround system?

I'm just wondering because I think the stock system is actually pretty nice but I'm wondering if there's an alternative to maybe enhance the sound without doing a full blown replacement system like I used to when I was a kid. I definitely think there's enough power in the internal amps to push a more robust sub-woofer.

Any thoughts?

I have the HK upgrade. Worth it IMHO.

Excellent write up Squishy. I too feel that the stock system is great at moderate listening levels but I like to turn it up every once in a while. I think the Focal set along with the Remus exhaust will be my next upgrades.

One quick question. It appears that you only replaced the front door component set?

Any reason why you didn't do the same to the rear? Or is this kit ONLY for the front? I checked Focals website & it does look like it's only for the front door replacement. Kind of strange for I would think they'd have an option for a complete speaker system replacement kit as well?

Yes sir, only the fronts came with the kit. In the kit there are two speakers (both front doors), two tweeters (both A pillars), wiring, and instructions.

To be honest, it didn't even occur to me at the time that the rear speakers would still be stock. I wish Focal gave an option for the rears as well, that would have been really nice.

Oh well though, it is still a great upgrade, and completely worth it if you're looking for better sound quality!
