Priced in the ballpark of a Q5, which is arguably a better family boat.

BMW better hope Audi doesn't bring the Q3 to U.S. soil; especially not priced in the high 20s.

I'm sure BMW is scared to death of Audi (not). This was a joke right. The x3 competes with the Q5 not the X1. I'm sure they are really worried since they can not make enough of them ( the best selling SUV in Europe). If you think the Q3 will be in the 20's please contact me because I have some investments I'd like to talk to you about purchasing. You would be lucky to get the VW equivalent with front wheel drive at that price.

No matter what anyone says in this thread, they are going to sell the absolute shit out of these things. The X1 in America will be an out-of-the-ballpark home run.

Well, lets hope your famous downpipes fit the X1. Having to mail in an ECU from a brand new vehicle everytime it needs to go into service probably isn't ideal. Any possibility of a handheld flashloader? Do you think a chargepipe is in the future for this platform?

Absolutely! Especially for the prices listed and with the acclaim the N20 has already received. This will probably be my next family vehicle/project. X1 Xdrive M35i M Performance edition of course!

I'm speculating based on European pricing.

Relax, I've owned 3 BMWs - currently an e90 M3. I'm not here to threaten your brand perception. I'd consider an X1, and will likely try it out, but Audi's SUVs sell like hot cakes for a reason.

I personally like it. IMO Red metallic / Orange metallic works great with this car.

If you look at the wheelbase and other specs you must be a rookie in technical things to choose a Q3. Plus I find Audi's design boring...

Amen!!

I drove a small SUV in Costa Rica this weekend, and even though it was a gutless 4-cylinder with no torque, it was still a hoot to drive because of a decent 5-speed manual gearbox. Automatic trans is no way to drive.

The Audi Q3 is a kick ass vehicle. In one European review they chose it over the brand new RR Evoque and X1. I'd consider it but it won't come to the USA until late 2013. I can't wait that long so the BMW X1 might be a good solution for me. I'll take one in Cashmire Silver please. No sunroof, thanks.

All I care about is having fun when I drive. That's why I own an M3.

My wife, however, favors ride comfort. Thus, she chose Audi.

Chill, dude.

It is just a simple discussion with personal opinions. I don't want to think that somebody will get upset from this kind of chat.
I was just stating my opinion.
Anyway, in my opinion Audi is not even near BMW in many aspects, however, everybody' s perception is different so it is no need to argue further.
I am from Europe, I am driving every year many cars, idrove q3 several times and whenx1 got in my hands I knew that is the one.
My wife does not care about anything except dimensions so it was an easy one for her.

It's the perfect all-weather urban runabout. These will sell hugely here in New England. But, we like manuals too.
Who are you talking to on Monday? The public days are usually staffed by outsourced staff. As for the manuals- you are dreaming that they sell hugely in an SAV or anything outside the 1 and 3 series.

Look at Audi's sales numbers in the US... they are tiny not even worth the effort. The Q3 is a Tiguan, actually the Tiguan is better, just like the POLO is better than the A1. The reviews of these new adder models for Audi are not so great.

Audi reacts to MB and BMW it is not the other way around. BMW launches BMWi - Audi creates the A2 in just over a month as a non working prototype bc they had to to save face- designers told me that.

The A1 was a reaction to the new A Class and the MINI. Wait until the next move goes public, it is another reaction and will not sell in the US.

The X1 was the first to market in the segment much like the original X3. The X1 is selling at a record pace in SAV hating Europe- the Q3 is not. The X1 will sell well in the US and it will not impact X3 sales bc the size difference is fairly extreme- it is small and more along the lines of a RAV 4 size than anything. It will be the most car like for sure and with the LCI updates it should have a much nicer cabin. Think of the E83 X3 post LCI and that is what the X1 is launching as in the US- smart move by BMW to cater to the demand and then upgrade.

It needs some cupholders, and hopefully gets some refreshed LED tail lights!

Been waiting for the F30 touring but might have to give this a look. If it had come in manual, N55 and rear wheel drive, think it would have been a slam dunk. Does the X1 still have hydraulic steering? Anyone seen any measurements for the rear seat leg room? How does it compare to E90 sedan?
