x1 interior picture request

I'm looking at configuring a new X1 without nav. Could someone post a picture of the little compartment that goes where the nav screen would be? I'm wondering if it would be feasible to mount a portable unit in there. Thanks in advance.

It is something like this. The compartment cover slides up and down i believe.

Good question,
I'm more intrested in how the dash changes with, or without nav.
For example: If you have Nav and Sat radio, I would assume that your song
playing would show in the LCD screen, or your song would show in that screen off your CD player as well.
Okay, but what if you don't have nav?, therefore no LCD screen.
Does the dash have another display to show songs and such?

Looking at a few pics between nav and no nav, it looks like there might be some slight changes, but its hard to find good pictures.

....but before I hit the submit on this I thought I would search again, and maybe I can answer my own question. Here's a pic with the differences. Looks like non-nav has the display in the middle section.

Cheers,

Thanks. I'm looking for a picture with the compartment open. And, does the compartment door stow away so that you can drive with in in the open position?

You can drive with the compartment door open. I have found the storage space to be very useful.

Also you probably could mount a unit inside the compartment since the door to it can be open when you drive.

Sorry i was thinking maybe a small unit might fit. Hope you can figure something out. I never would have thought of trying to do that with a portable unit. Any ways good luck.

Just a suggestion regarding this picture.
You need to get a Passport dash mount for that radar detector, its like $15 and works great (much better than those suction cups and it gets it up where it won't have the signal blocked by either your GPS or your back tailgate).

Mounting your radar higher up will help too, ideally at the height of the rearview mirror.

The Escort Passport dash mount will work with any brand radar detector and you can adjust how it pitches and gets it up about 4 inches off the dash. This doesn't help with the GPS mount but I was wondering how that radar detector pictured even worked how it was positioned.

Not well, certainly not as well as a high mounted, unobstructed one would.

Good catch about my radar and thanks for the tips!! Since getting 'older' I am not drive as crazy and I also have a FOP badge so no need to rely on my radar that much now.
Another reason is the suction cups on the mount can't stick to anything so it just sit on the dash. I will get the dash mount; it seem to be a good product.

No matter what I shouldn't put my EZ Pass tag in front of it lol!
