Just placed my order. How'd I do?

Hello:

I just placed my order on a 2014 X1 sdrive28i. It is Mineral gray and it has a panoramic sunroof. Other than those two options, it is a base model. I did not opt for any of the packages because I wanted to keep the price low and I simply did not want many of them.

I paid $29,805 plus tax and title. My out-the-door price is $32,680 due to CA's high sales tax.

I used USAA's auto-buying program (FYI: I kept negotiating after I received USAA's quote to get the price to $29,805), so my APR is 1.01%!

What do you think? How'd I do?

I think you did GREAT on BOTH overall price and financing! I thought I did pretty well myself, but not as good as you. My car stickered at just over 41k and I got her as a leftover demo (with 66 miles on her) for 35.5k, not including my 8.875% sales tax. She does have a couple of packages for that price, and I had to settle for an all black (sapphire met.) car. I got BMW to match my credit union rate of 2.9% and I also got a pretty decent trade amount for my mint SAAB 9-3 XWD which made me even happier because those values were falling HARD and FAST.

Sounds good. Dealer up here in New England doing about 3k below MSRP.
Sounds about the same with you.
Congrats.

Thanks! I had the dealer down to $28,665, but then I read the thread about trailer hitches and I had to add the panoramic sunroof.

Soon to be X1 owner

Dealer offered a new 2014 x xdrive 28i with sport, lighting, ultimate, heated seats, harmon kardon for $38,900. MSRP is over 45k and invoice I believe is around 41k. Seems to be a good deal, but what do you guys think?

Got my 2014 Xdrive 28i in September last year on Long Island, NY, $40K, with Xline, cold weather, premium and tech package...took it from the dealer's lot, so I really did not order it. There was no other Alpine white with a lighting package in stock, and I did not want to wait. What the heck, no matter how you order it, it is still a bargain compared to what people are paying elsewhere in the world. It is priced very low just for the U.S. market. for $40K, you could only get a 150 horsepower X1 18i with no options in China. A fully loaded 28i costs more than $80K. BTW, the X1 is placed above the 3 series in the Asian market, and a loaded X1 28i costs $20K more than a fully optioned 328i. It is same for many European countries. It is cheaper than the other BMW models here only because of BMW's North America marketing strategies. I actually wanted to get the 328i GT, but instead saved $10,000 bucks by getting the X1. I use the bluetooth audio to play my music collections from my phone, so the Navi is a must for me. Screw the back-up camera...I've got a Bumper Bully lol

Seems like a good deal but I dont' think invoice has much to do with anything. I don't know why people quote them. They aren't selling you the vehicle at a 2100 dollar loss.

I guess unless you are paying off the car cash down, they will make money on you through financing any way, even with a slight loss over the invoice price. In my case also they sold me the $1400, 5 year tire and wheel insurance...btw I had my first tire replacement within 2 month due to puncture...they gave me a new tire, no questions asked

I am sure things like tire insurance are a big profit margin for the dealer. I am sure they pay less than 700 dollars for that. I absolutely don't want any of that stuff and I hate having to listen to them trying to sell me stuff I would never buy. Worse part of buying a car. But invoice price is not what they are paying for the car. They have incentives from BMW. You can get the USAA discount plus the rebates. None of that is coming from the dealer.

True, but I live in NYC, and there are constructions going on everywhere. Roads are littered with millions of pot holes. I am sure they will lose money on me with the tire insurance lol. But elsewhere in the country, I don't think it is worth it.

I agree. I got a $1,000 rebate from USAA.

Just leased a 2014 X1 sDrive28i with the only options being: M Sport package, 19" wheels, Panoramic Sunroof, Harman Kardon, Heated Seats, Power memory seat, in LeMans Blue Metallic. We paid $34,383, but $32,883 after $1500 worth of incentives. With 7 $450 security deposits and trading in a 2013 VW GLI the monthly paymet is $433.

There are some killer deals on these things out there.

What we have to pay here which includes AUD$ pricing on some extras.
2014 X1 xDrive 28i MY15 Auto $59900 including Govt. Charges.
Except for Alpine White, Solid and Black, Solid ADD $1308 for any other colour.
ADD - Dealer Delivery $4000 - M Sport $4900 - Harmon/Kardon $1900 - Leather $2000 - Sports Seats $800 - Wheels Change to 19" $1400 to $2000.
I have different options on mine.
Fully kitted you could be looking at AUD $80,000+, which includes demonstrators with 2 to 5000Km's on the clock.
GOOD USA-35i and Pricing. BAD No Diesel, maybe.
GOOD AUST.-Diesel. BAD-No 35i and Pricing.
