xdrive 2.0d - what MPG
Hi,
What do the xdrive 2.0d drivers see returned by the OBC? Over the past week and mostly town driving with a trip out into the country I'm seeing 39.7mpg. First time with a diesel for about 5 years and not sure what to expect. I'm on the first tank of fuel and car still <4000 miles. Also used Shell V-power diesel for the first refuel, not sure whether to keep on using it or just use normal diesel. I'm used to running a high performance petrol where v-power or other >97RON fuel had to be used but have no idea whether higher quality diesel fuels make a difference. Last experience of a diesel was a BMW 320td Compact which if I remember correctly returned about 54mpg albeit with lots of motorway driving and not 4WD. Didn't have much look with the previous diesel (turbo blew @50kmiles and fuel pump and glow plugs about 10k later), so fingers crossed the X1 proves much more reliable. Really quite enjoying the X1. Different from what I'm used to and still getting used to being in lower gears and the size and height. |

Hi Darren
I've got a 18d sdrive (on a 10 plate) now with 34k on the clock. I do 500 miles a week back and forth to work on half A roads and half Motorway. According to the OBC I'm getting 52.3 at the minute with the best (in the hot spell last year) being 54.3 for a few hours. I put in £60 of normal diesel at a time and can get just about 500 miles out of it, but I'm almost empty by then. With my local station now selling diesel at £1.43 a litre... I'm getting less miles of course. I found the engine has loosened up considerably in the last few thousand miles, which is a surprise as I was expecting this to happen around 20-25k. It's more fun to drive now and much more 'nippy'. I know 4 wheel drive will zap some MPG, but on a run when the engine has loosened up I'd expect you to see high 40's and maybe 50 on a very warm day.
