If you're bored, check RealOEM to see if the master cylinder is the same.

Interesting! I was actually wondering why my X1 rims look so dirty (some sort of black dust) after a few rides. So, we must be getting metallic brake pads down here. These brake pads are supper grabby to the point that I don't understand this whole issue about the horrible braking distance on the X1. Rims can be easily cleaned with a rag, so I'll take the extra braking power anytime.

Half of me is bored, half of me wants better brakes, but either way I checked. They are identical.

That's a little simplified, here are the rotor specs. Fortunately for the X1, unlike the 328i, the US and ROW cars get the same size brakes.

US X1 28i
F - 312x24 (12.3x0.95)
R - 300x20 (11.8x0.79)

US X1 35i
F - 348x30 (13.7x1.2)
R - 336x22 (13.2x0.87)

Apparently these pads are included in the 2014 M Sport. Mine are remarkably clean after 1300 miles. They only collect road dust. I guess this is a good thing.

As usual you understand your car.

The braking is very good, and at least the dust is black, not red.
