Anyone use Rain-X repellent?

Anyone use rain-x repellent in their windshield?

Bought one last week and find it to cause more problem than solve. It does a good job in terms of repellent rain... but ever since applying, my wipers streaks like hell. Making wipers almost unusable, disturbing and embarrassing.

Just used some windex and cleansed them off...

don't get it on your paint, unless they changed it, I think it will damage it I used it a long time ago and I think I got a small spot on my car from it. Again they might have fixed that or I just am not remembering correctly. read the label I'm sure if it does it should say it.

I do remember when the stuff wore off, the wipers kind of dragged across the windshield.

I use Glaco in the bright orange container. Easier to apply, lasts much longer, and no streaking.

I use the +32F version of the RainX washer fluid as I live in FL. Can confirm that I've never had any paint damage ever. Have been using this product since 2010 on multiple vehicles. Used to use the RainX treatment but found that just using the washer fluid gave the same results with a lot less work.

I find the RainX washer fluid leaves spots on the black rubber around the windshield. Never had a problem with paint though. The regular RainX you apply works ok for a while then messes up the wipers until you apply it again. I skip it but get the glass polished a couple of times per year, which removes anything stuck on it that doesn't come off with regular cleaning. I don't really car about trying to repel the rain - I just use the wipers.

Wolfs glass guard...incredible product, I install it on all our cars. Check out some of the YouTube videos...in a different league vs rain x, etc...it is pricey, but worth it.

Truer words were never spoken. I was about to post the same. This product is absolutely phenomenal. I rarely have to use my windshield wipers during heavy downpours.

OP, I highly suggest you give it a try.

Okay, I think what you are talking about is different - washer fluid. I used this small bottle with the flip up nozzle that you had to apply with a rag to the windshield, I probably still have it somewhere, but I stopped using it. I guess they moved away from that stuff.

Ever try it on glass windows for a house. We have issues with sprinklers hitting the windows with hard well water, which leaves spots. Even when adjusted, a slight breeze can result in water hitting the glass. Wondering if something like this helps and how often it would need to be applied.

Rain X works great but it is a pain to apply. I've also had staining on the black rubber around a windshield. I apply it to a paper towel then to the windshield.

If you live in an area where it rains a lot it's a big visibility upgrade.

There is a slight trick to applying RainX. First clean the windshield with some glass cleaner. Dry it off. Then apply two coats of RainX - let it fog or "haze" up on the glass. Then use a water hose or more glass cleaner.... and clean/buff off that "haze". Done. Now your wipers will not streak!

RainX works extremely well. I'm guessing the haze never got cleaned off fully.

I'm lazy and only mildly obsess about keeping my car clean, so taking the time to do an actual treatment on the windshield doesn't really appeal to me. I use the Rain-X windshield washer fluid. I use the de-icer or 2-in-1 orange stuff for the half the year it's colder, and once spring comes around I switch to the green bug remover stuff. Wisconsin highway driving when the weather is warmer means bugs all over the windshield.

This shit is so good that I can drive through a deluge of a rain storm and not use my wipers.

Disclaimer: not using your wipers while its raining probably isn't very smart.

Been using RainX for many years & will not stop using it. Works great. Never damaged my paint or trim. It's 1 of the frst things I do when I get a new car.
