Uneven brake pad wear

I had my front brake pads changed at 29 k Mike’s after the sensor light came on.
The mechanic, ( not at the dealer ) showed me the pads and the inside pads were worn down completely while the outside pads looked like they had virtually no wear. There were also grooves in the pads that were worn down.
I took it to BMW to have them check the brakes and look at the pads. The service manager told me that the technician looked at them and said that it’s normal to have uneven wear but I could put new rotors, pads and have the calipers cleaned. I just put new pads on and the rotors look fine.
Anyone have a similar problem, sounds like the dealer just wanted to replace the brakes for no other reason but because they could find nothing wrong with them

The inside pads always wear more because the piston is on that side so it is the first pad to touch the rotor. However if there is a big difference I would be looking at possibly seized up sliders on the caliper. Every time I do brakes, I take apart the sliders clean them and relube. Knock on wood I haven't had any seize up in a while on any of my cars.

I changed my rear pads last year and didn't notice any difference to warrant closer attention. Never encountered significant wear difference in all my other cars either.

Is it with all four corners?
