Nice! I think I remember saying in a post a few weeks ago that I can't wait for you to get your car as then I'll only have 2 weeks to wait for mine rather than 6!

Bet you can't wait until Saturday...not long now.

I noticed you're in the UK, can you let me know what you were told from the dealership. Basically I was told about three weeks ago they have an allocation for mid March but that's been it so far. What were you told as time progressed? i.e were you told that the car was manufactured and ready for shipment or were you just told a new registration today without any other information in-between?

Thanks.

I was originally considering a Q3 and was told by my local Audi dealer there was a 4 month lead time. About the end of October I decided the X1 was a better option and placed my order. The dealer said the car should arrive about mid January and would hold it for 1st March delivery. I got an email from the dealer at the end of January to say it had arrived. I didn't get any info before that about build week (which I did with VW).
From what I was told by an Audi dealer the bigger groups have a larger allocation so can get the car quicker, which is probably true for BMW. I've ordered from Cooper which is part of Inchcape which I think are quite big. Mine took about 10 weeks from ordering but that included Christmas.

Don't forget to take out the 7 day free insurance. It makes it easier for the dealer to sort out the road tax.

Finally forced myself home. I've taken a couple of pics on my phone. I'll post them once I work out how.

Tried it down some local country lanes. Much better than the Tiguan as you would expect - steering has more feel and the car doesn't seem to lurch into corners. On the motorway, quiet and smooth.
Interestingly they seem to have ditched the clip in cup holder for a fixed one inside the arm rest. Looks much better. Not sure how practical it will be though in there.

There has always been a cup holder in the centre armrest. The clip in one still exists too

There's no slot for it to clip into, Twix, and nothing to clip into it, only the cup holder behind the gear lever and a moulded one inside the arm rest. Maybe it's part of the 2014 revisions. I can't see that it has any of the other revisions. Possibly they are phasing in the changes when they run out of the parts.

Can't imagine using the one inside the console, as it's too far to the rear. The clip-in one works well enough, despite it's being kinda Rube Goldberg.
The Deutschers must be mystified by our cupholder fetish.
We'll see how it all works out.

My car is a 2014 and I have the clip in. The dealer hid it in my centre console for delivery. The slot is well hidden when not in use. It's gotta be there, unless maybe it has something to do with a manual trans?

How practical is the one inside the armrest?? I was also in the dealer last weekend and tried looking for the snap-in port for the passenger side cup holder but couldn't find it..

The one in the armrest is ok for bottles with a tight lid. If it can spill, I wouldn't recommend using the armrest holder

I think you could use it when parked but not when moving because you would have to drive with the lid open (if it will stay up) and is too far back to reach easily.
They must have changed the console to get rid of the clip on version. We don't have model years in Europe as you do in North America, just face lifts every 3 years or so. Minor updates often go unannounced.
