I had to show up just once. I got called into the jury interview and before my butt touched the seat they dismissed me. The seated jury was all older folks. It was a case of a HS football player accused of sexual assault of a cheerleader. I was very glad they dismissed me as I'm sure it was a "he said/she said" case.

First I'll start with the screwing of the paperwork.
It doesn't work. They know what you're trying to do. A good friend of mine was called in for jury duty right after he finished college and went in with a ripped up tee, shorts and sandals. The judge asked if anyone didn't want to be there so he stood up and said he didn't because he thought it was stupid. The judge said, "Son, approach the bench please." He read him the riot act and threatened to send him to jail if he didn't straighten his ass out.

Secondly, I was called myself and served on a jury. It was very intereting and I learned quite a bit. You're only 19 and I probably wouldn't have appreciated it either at your age (I'm twice your age). Just fill the paperwork out and bring in a large book to read, you may need it. Waiting to possibly be chosen is very boring.

First of all, definitely fill out the questionnaire. Second, like others have said, jury duty can actually be pretty rewarding and kind of a fun experience. At the end of the day there's only a small chance you'll get picked (after number selection and voir dire), but if you do it can be a good experience.
