Bike Rack Options
Looking to find best option for bike rack for 2020 X1. Car is leased so want to avoid damaging car to install any hitch. Also hope to be able to transfer whatever I get to other vehicles as well.
Ideally would like to use a trunk/hatch mounted rack, but I have read in some places that the spoiler on the X1 will not support the weight of a bike rack. That then leaves hitch or roof mounts. The hitch that seems to be the most reasonably priced for my needs, if I go this route is a Curt model https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hit...leID=202044055 Roof options seem pricier but with the right purchase may also be able to use for cargo carrier as well. Thoughts? |

You're in the wrong X1 sub-forum.
Nonetheless, I think hitch option is the easiest and least pricey. I think ours have the Reese Powerhitch class III installed. Works great to carry a 4-bike rack. |

Based on your avatar profile, your 2020 X1 is a f48 chassis. But we know deep down f48 crowd wants to be with the cool e84 kids. That's OK by us.
Just that we may not be able to answer f48 X1 specifics. |

This is the bike rack we are running, and have had it on some long 500+ mile trips without issue. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 From my experience, most of the aftermarket hitches including the curt should be fairly easy to reverse if you wanted. I may just consider leaving it on there on lease return though.
