Does a bicycle fit in the back of an X1?

A few questions for all you cyclists out there:

Has anybody tried putting a bicycle into the back of their X1? Will it fit lying down? Do you have to take the front wheel off your bike? Just how long is the cargo bed with the rear seats folded flat?

Thanks very much.

Garage List
2011 BMW X1 23d  [7.66]
I didn't try to get my roadie in the back of the car with the front wheel on but it obviously easily fits with the front wheel off and the seat laid down.

Not a cyclist but my wifes lady mountain bike fits in easily without taking off the front wheel. Of course you do have to drop the rear seats as not even my 7year old sons bike will fit in the boot with seats up. Not sure of the exact dimensions but I can measure it for you tonight if you want.

In general, and I think I have said this before, if you want to get an idea of the size of the X1 think of a 3-series estate thats a bit taller. The X1 has slightly more space in the back but the two have almost the exact same dimensions. The X1 is not a big car by NA standards.

The only way to fit a road bike is with all the rear seats laid down and without the fornt wheel, I wanted to fit it by just putting down the middle seat so it would be easier but it is not high enough.

With the front wheel off and rear seats folded you can fit in 2 or possibly even 3 bikes. I have had my mtb and road bike in at the same time on a few occasions.

Must mean my wife has a small bike as it goes in with all the wheels on.
