I just can't break the car smoothly
It comes the sound squeaking annoying before completely stop. Or to avoid these sound then I'll brake hardly and the car shock

Yes MRM and Cyee - I noticed it for the first time this past weekend on my wife's X1 (now 4 month's old). We pulled up to a stoplight and I thought it was the truck beside us, but at the next light, there was no truck and it happened again. Anyone know what might be causing this squeaking?

LOL. My wife's X1 is now squeaking every morning when she backs out of the driveway. We were away for 18 days, so I'm sorta blaming it on that, but I wish it would go away soon.

No idea if this applies in the US,however over here in the UK (ish)my experience has been that modern brake pads and discs squeak, period. Materials they are now made of.

My brakes just started squeaking last week too, when I back out of the driveway. I wonder if the onset of cooler weather is causing this. My car hasn't sat idle at all. I've got 4500km on it now.

Weird. I wonder if reversing fast and then braking forcefully would do anything? I'm not about to get the wife to do this, but maybe somebody can try this.....

I too got the squeeking brakes in the morning. After a while it goes away or after a few hard stop. Never had that problem with my other cars.

Maybe we should report this to the garage?

Nope, my 1 year old X1 has no brake squeaks. Can only add that I do enjoy "spirited" driving now and again?

Same here, started when the car was almost new, they fixed it but now it´s back again after 16 months and 60.000 kms. It´s only when I´m going real slow and brakes gently...

Dealer says that they have had other cases and that they clean the brakes. Then a tech said some info came in yesterday about the problem. Have made an appt in two weeks to have them looked at and will report back. There is also some kind of a recall to be done at that time too.

Thanks DC - looking forward to hearing back from you when you know more. The squeaking in ours seems to have disappeared but with so many other members reporting the issue, there's clearly something wrong... Also just noticed yesterday that the light in the back storage compartment is not working - you'd think it should last more than 4 months

Semi-update: The "recall" is a software update for emissions, but they found that the update messes up something else so they're not doing it for now. Will still get the brakes cleaned next week.

Apparently there is "a high metallic content in the pads" and they are changing out the pads and rotors. This is a known problem. Wow.

Emissions software now updated. Dealer got a new version last Friday.

Got a 323 loaner. Big difference between it and my 335.

Did they say if the brakes had a recall on them? I have my RV on the 30th, they will be doing the transmission update and look at the brakes.

There's is no recall but I gather they are aware of an issue. If your brakes don't squeak, then don't worry about it.
