It's come up a few times but I haven't seen an OEM style solution as it would include taking down the head liner. Best I can imagine is to buy an aftermarket sun visor with the lights built in and look at running the wires to some splice point.

Alternatively just get a flat battery powered led light.

Do you mean like a light ring around the mirror???

Because my X1 has a light up in the headliner above the visor that comes on when you slide the mirror open.

Something like the ring, yeah. Many X1's don't have the light in the headliner. Mine and OP's included.

OK, that makes much more sense now.

Trunk light

I asked the dealer about the trunk light...they say it depends on the vehicle, but the duration is for how long the trunk lid have been open, the light will stay on between 15-30 minutes while the trunk lid is open and if continue to be open after that period it should go off. I have not test the procedure on my X1.

I have a 2013 X1 with the Ultimate package... pretty much loaded save for auto highbeams, and it does not have visor lights.

What years or packages were required to have visor lighting? This is such a strange omission.

I'm in the same boat. Canadian model 2013 X1 28i Base Line with pretty much all the packages. Wonder if it's only for 35i or maybe only X-Line or Sports Line?

The vanity lights are P/N: 63316962013 on etk.cc.... but that doesn't tell us if they're pre-wired or if the headliner is scored to accept the lights. I might go outside and feel around up there to see if I can feel any indents. It would be nice if the wires were up there already and a simple razorblade cut is already marked out.

I have the lighting package, so I assume it is a part of that.

I have the lighting package and I don't have visor lights. Mind you I don't have auto high beams either but I can't imagine the two being connected.

Updated: this very well could be market based...since you are in a different market. Car companies usually customize that based on different markets.

I think they added vanity mirror lights in MY 2014 or MY 2015. I have MY2015 with ultimate package but no lighting package, I have vanity mirror lights.

My 2013 is Ultimate pkg + Lighting pkg and lacks the visor lights, so if it's based on the model year, that would make more sense.
