Drove with the 4 cylinder engine in the X1, 328i and X3 over the last year. None of the transmission or mpg characteristics made me question my decision on the 35i. Absolutely love the drive and the way the car feels when accelerating on highways. Then again, I might be biased because I want you to buy my car

For the HP, the 35i gets commendable MPG. My Infiniti G with similar peak HP but overall lesser powerplant gets 2 MPG less!

If you are willing to modify, I assure you that JB4 and Alpina transmission flash will not disappoint. You will then have probably the fastest crossover short of a Macan.

after coming from a 2011 128i and a 2011 335xi I knew I had to go with the X1 35i . it honestly feels the same as driving my 335.

the N20 is alot different than the N52 I had in the 128i but has around the same power. for the power it had, the 128 was fine, but I thought with the same power and a million pounds heavier (give or take a few) I just wouldn't have thought it would be nearly as fun as the 35.

I looked for a while and found a lemans blue msport. right after I bought it, white with coral was on the market. fml. I still love mine though, wait for the 35.

I might still be in touch. I just fear having to then sell my current DD. And the bumper damage is troublesome for me.

I'm not sure about the white and coral combo myself. I like the blue and coral.

It'd like blue with the light beige interior #1. But I want an msport. Black interrior is even okay.

I do like orange, and it'd take that with black or light beige interior. Black interior is second.

Nav and the msport package seem to be fairly uncommon in the 35.

If I could find blue, low miles, 35, coral interrior with nav, price tag is irrelevant(with in reason, I'm not spending 45k).

I guess I'll keep searching. Thanks everyone!

Those are my tops.

It's troublesome for me, too, because I wish it wouldn't have happened and I don't want to do anything to it. I'll let the buyer decide whether it should be painted over or replaced. Anyway, it's a $400 replacement plastic part on an otherwise excellent car. Good Luck with your search!

I think the 28i is fine at 240hp. But 240 seems like the minimum for me.

When I was shopping to replace my E90 335i, the new X1 seemed slow at 228hp, as did the Audi Q3 at 200hp. My wife already has an '12 X3 so I didn't want a duplicate. I was close to buying an Audi Q5, but I was still looking at CPO E84 X1s. When looking there were a few accessories that I wanted and I thought I would get a 28i which had the same shifter as my wife's X3. Most of my searches ended quickly since a lot of the nearby CPO X1s are SDrive with no backup camera.

Then I happened to see a CPO '14 X1 online at my favorite BMW dealer that had my top accessories: AWD, Nav, backup camera and heated seats. The CPO was almost the same grey as my 335i, it was an 35i MSport which are nice-to-haves for me. The only bad thing was it had a red leather interior. When I went to the dealer to see it, I saw that the red is very understated with the grey exterior. After driving it and seeing that it drove like a slightly taller 335i, it was mine.

I drove a '98 E39 540i 6-speed for 10 years and then a '08 E90 335i 6-speed for 8 years. The E84 35i X1 seems like a natural progression.

I love the motor, but it needs to be remapped, because the response is non-linear. The trans is very slow to shift, too. I plan on modding all the really annoying traits away. Sumbitch scoots!

I got the 28xi for 4 reasons, Coming from a range rover sport supercharged, I felt that the off road capabilities with these cars are underrated. The hydraulic steering is rare on cars today; and in my opinion best in the game, And I am happy with the panoramic roof as it as good as Porsche functionality. The 8 speed gearbox is reasonably similar to cars like the cayenne and range rover.

Added the Dinan sport tuner to my 28i and could not be happier. It's probably not 35i in acceleration but a whole lot closer and when not romping on it great MPG. Like a different car really for $300.

I'm coming from a Long line of natural aspirated cars, where tunes were more about improving driveability, with minimal gains.

The whole Dinan tuner makes me think more about the 28i. I'm more likely to get what I want in the 28i trim.

Agreed, I go back far enough to recall modifying with chips and really getting nothing out of it, half the time it made the car worse. To get honest to goodness power and no change in car behavior otherwise is unreal for $300.

My 35i is my first BMW. With the way BMW is pushing the turbo four, my chances of enjoying the I6 on a new car are getting less and less affordable. Gearheads should own during their lifetime at least a NA/FI V8, a smooth I6, a well-handling light RWD Roadster/Coupe, a truck/off road vehicle, a classic car, and a motorcycle, just my opinion.

Yeah that list was just to meet the criteria, I've been driving 25 yrs. now and had about that many cars. I'd be a richer man had I not had this addiction, at least financially.
