Retrofit transmission E84

Hello!

I'd like to ask if anyone knows if the transmission from the E84 facelifted version fit to the E84 first edition? Like retroperspectively?

Perhaps the manuals does and the automatic does aswell.

I wouldn't think the Xdrive transmission fitted to the Sdrive and vice versa, however perhaps the transmission does within the same driveline?

The point of doing so is to buy an old E84 first edition, and then getting a better fuel economy by changing to the upgraded transmission.

Sincerely

Wow, seriously? You think changing a transmission on old cars to improve gas mileage is worth it?

In general BMW spoke about the facelift upgrade as partly a mechanical upgrade of the transmission(among others. It was an upgrade as the got better mileage. Especially the AT saw improvements.

from Automobile-catalog it says:

Combined mileage

18d_______2011____2013
MT
Xdrive____17.5 km/l_18.2 km/l_1.3 km/l
Sdrive____19.2 km/l_20.4 km/l_1.2 km/l
__________1.8 km/l__2.2 km/l_2.9 km/l
AT
Xdrive____16.1 km/l_18.5 km/l_2.4 km/l
Sdrive____16.9 km/l_20.0 km/l_3.1 km/l
__________0.8 km/l__1.5 km/l_3.9 km/l

The improvement is significant on the AT, being 3.1 km/l for the Sdrive and 2.4 km/l for the Xdrive.

So clearly - the phase II transmission was a huge improvement for the resistance in the 4wd transmission.

I'm not saying that there might be a monetary saving in it.
But lets imagine that I could get my hands on a working transmission from a 2014 for almost no money. Would it fit inside a 2011 E84 - and thereby improving fuel economy?
