Route 66 Warranty Covers X3 and X5 but excludes X1...BS - call and complain

This is really bullshit - we have no options for aftermarket warranties.

Route 66 warranty has no problem covering costly X3s and X5s but says they exclude the BMW X1 and won't sell me a warranty

If you want to have any hope of aftermarket warranty coverage on your car call 800.808.0828 and complain about it.

Did they provide a reason for not covering the X1?

And you've tried all other warranty companies? Really?

Guess I'm a bit confused. You have a highly modified X1 which you track/drag regularly. Swapped turbo, Brembos, coilovers, etc. You're doing the One Lap of America with it for god sakes. You've got five figures of work into the car...and you're considering/worried about an aftermarket warranty?

What parts of your car are really left that you could submit a claim on in good faith, your radio or your window regulators?

How could that be worth it?

I am worried my radio volume button will break, I think that is still stock. In reality there is a decent amount of stuff that isn't affected by mods. Electrical system, thermostats, sensors, iDrive, air conditioner, heater, heated seats, etc. Any of those could be a grand or two to fix. My car already has 70k so I drive the crap out of it. I have already had OEM engine harness connectors have wires snap off because of vibration and corrosion.

They said the underwriters won't cover it due to high repair costs

That's odd that the X1 has any more problems, or higher repair costs, vs. any other E series car.

If anything, one would think your average X1 leads an easier life than, say, a 335 or 328.

Very odd indeed.

Exactly, that was my point. Makes no sense to me.

One thought, I think the X1 is about $10k less in MSRP than a comparable X3 or 3 series? If the repair costs of all three are about the same dollar value for a given repair, then the X1 has fewer repairs before they're not worth doing?

BMW has an extended warranty why wouldn't you just get that? And why would I complain to a company that doesn't want my business.

It's a different market. Once you are out of warranty BMW won't sell you another one. And it doesn't cover as much as RT66 does.

I really like my X1 and am giving serious thot' to an extended warranty. How bad of a beating will the dealer give me for extending the factory warranty, and what will it cover?
Thanks,
Moon

Call me crazy, but this sounds like a question for your dealer.

so your trying to get extended warranty coverage on a car that is heavily modified and raced? don't waste your money once a adjuster comes to look at your car and takes the pictures, you most likely get the claimed declined anyways. take that money you would spend on a good extended warranty and put it in a savings account.

the best extended warranty company i have delt with is fidelity. but have seen them decline work on cars that have a lot of modifications.

I deal with extended warranties on a daily basis

Only 3 I recommend are Fidelity, Intercontinental and Mercury and their top line plans.
