She's here...
So, ordered my X1 on 29 Jan 2011 and took delivery today 24 May 2011. A long wait but worth it to get what I wanted.
Picked her up this morning and took her straight to Jax Tyres in Bondi and had the delivered Pirelli P7 RFT swapped for Pirelli P7 not Run Flat Tyres. Jax did a four for five swap at no cost including fitting and balancing, etc. I bought an extra 17inch wheel to swap if necessary. And for info they also said that if I damaged (NEVER!) my wheels, they can repair them like new. Handy to know just in case the worst happens. Can't recommend them highly enough. So the pickup process was great - no probs at all and got shown the highlights of the car. Will now have to read the book to get the details. Probably won't get to drive it until the weekend and will try to take some decent photos then. Until then, took this with my phone in the dealership. It's all set with roof rack and ski racks. Bring on the snow! LOL. It's an XDrive 23d in Silver with Black leather interior and sunroof and business sat nav, front and rear sensors and rear camera, performance control, auto with paddles and obviously with roof racks and ski racks thrown in as well as car mats inside. I am very excitment! Bring on the weekend. |

I changed to standard tyres as I had read a lot of bad stuff about run flats. Not just about the ride but the handling and more importantly the rate of wear, the hassle of finding someone who can put new ones on, their availability outside capital cities, their inability to get a simple puncture repaired as opposed to having to replace the tyre and the cost of replacement. After a drive to Jindabyne (900 kms round trip) on the weekend I'm happy with my decision and my car. Wonderful drive and exceptional handling. Managed to avoid a wombat, echidna, kangeroo, rabbit and a fox despite their suicidal tendancies. Swerving around a wombat at night at 140kms an hour with no problems at all is a joyous thing. Also utilised the cruise control around Goulburn to avoid the usual speeding fine I pick up there. And the lights are fantastic for lighting your way in the dark and through fog and rain. The windscreen wipers also work a treat to clear a nice bright view. All 900kms was in the dark unfortunately and while I had grand plans of taking some sexy shots of the car in the snowy mountains, none came to pass. Also took a significant load up there including four chairs, numerous toolboxes and drills, food and clothes for a weekend away for two people and a beanbag for a dog (and the dog but he's very small). All fit in with no probs and a little room to spare. It's a wonderful beastie. |

When I walked in and orignally saw it under wraps I was wondering what the hell it was with the strange bumps on the roof. Turned out it was all mine. |

Mine was hidden under a black blanket then lights turned on and the blanket was removed. It was beautiful lol, I got as a gift the USB BMW key, a complete package of cleaning materials, and X1 Keyring, and my dealer saw my inspiration when buying my first bimmer that she gave me a full color atlas of BMW's history.
