Dashboard Trim Removal

I recently received a retro fit heads up screen for our buggy and was looking to install it.

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1063158

The following need to be removed:

Left dashboard cover 51 45 ...
Bottom left and right dashboard trim 51 43 195

I found the left dashboard cover labeled as 10 in this diagram:

https://www.partsbase.org/bmw/x1-e84...ent-panel-top/

At this point I am assuming that the bottom left and right dashboard trim are parts labeled as 1 and 3 in this diagram:

https://www.partsbase.org/bmw/x1-e84...-panel-bottom/

What bugs me is that the numbers from install instructions do not match the part numbers in the diagram. Any thoughts?

At the same time any else take their dash a part?? Any tips or tricks?

To me it looks like the whole dashboard needs to be removed to accommodate the necessary connections. As a start I am attaching some of the instructions. Let me know if you need others.

THANKS for all of those. Is there one for:

Removing and installing/replacing instrument panel trim, bottom right.

That would be trim "around" the glove box.

I do not think I need to take the whole dash apart as with the trim removed I should be able to route the cable.

Didn't even know there was a HUD available for the X1. Where did you buy it from? Let us know how the installation goes and your impressions!
