No connection to OBD2 Port

Hi all,

Have an ever challenging issue with the car.

Basically replaced the Torque actuator and halfway through coding it with Istap battery maintainer died and so did battery. FRM module went down and so car was immobile.

Sent the FRM off for repair and the guy added an E65 flash to is so its not right but i have no way to correct the issue now that its "working"

I have bmw standard tools which works on a mates car but my car will not connect to mine. most systems are coming up with IFH-0009 unable to connect to....... Istap asks for the VO as it cant read it. I ahve re-written this and have it saved as a .xml file which istap recognises and imports, it then goes to ask for an IBAC number which i have generated with IstaP which works fine but then it states it need an I level code. this is where i'm getting confused with thing and i'm wondering if Ista is actually connected to the car.

So nothing else in the BMW software suite that i have will connect not NCSexpert Winkfp Inpa all with the same issue. IstaP seems to be connecting but i'm not 100% sure it is and wonder if its just ISTAP asking for this info for itself rather than not being able to physically read the info from the car.

So question is i suppose, what would cause the programs to not be able to see the car, is the FRM like a soft gateway into the car for the OBD port. Could it be that there are other modules that need to wake up that cant to allow this connection. I'm at a loss as to what to do as it used to start but now it cranks but wont start. Suspect this is DDE?ews connection which can be resolved but its just another thing that is happening.

Appreciate this is a lot of info but to me it all relates to not being able to connect to the car though the OBD and would the FRM being incorrectly coded cause this.
