Driving light inner rear lights / fog lights

I dropped by a BMW dealer today and learned that X1 don't have driving lights on the lamps that follows the door. He said that they are fog lights only.

My car is european, imported from Germany from 2010. What about your cars?

Would love to have that fog light 50% active at all times to match the day lights. Doable?

We don't even get the rear fog light feature here in the States.

Here we have the full rear lights (with led/bulbs). I think this is standard since facelift 2013.

Yes, and this is due to a lack of regulation in almost all states. Because driving with rear fog lights on when not needed is not a driving offence here, idiots will do it, without even getting fined. Which causes more safety risks than having rear fog lights would solve.

I'm with BMW on this one - even though I know that fog lights are not to be used except in pea soup conditions, I realize that the average American driver neither knows nor cares, and that cops can't do anything about wrong use. So it's probably better that we don't get them.

Lobby your local politicos to get stricter traffic laws like in Europe, and we may get more safety features too. But without a law, I'd rather not be blinded by rear fog lights in clear conditions or in the city.

I don't see any rear fog lights in that video? Those would be much brighter than brake lights.

OK. So nothing wrong with my lamps then. Facelift versions (2012) have full and pre like mine.

Would love to have full day lights though. Anyone know how?
