Spacers
I'm looking to put Spacers on the Front.
My Original Centre Bore is 72.6 and the New Wheels/Rims have a 74 Centre Bore with Hub Centric Rings to suit/match the 72.6. Has anyone put Spacers on where the Wheels/Rims have Different Centre Bores? Comments For and Against Please. |

I'm no expert, but a combo of a wheel spacer and hubcentric rings sound like a balance and vibration while at speed nightmare. Is the offset a problem with the wheels as is or can they bolt up now with no spacer or do the hit the struts and that's the reason for spacer...

Not a problem at all. Almost all aftermarket VW/Audi wheels have hub rings and if there is any crowd that is going to test the limits of spacers it's the VW stance people.

The Rears are 13mm out more than the Fronts and a 10mm or 12mm Spacer on the Fronts would Square them up more, that's all. |

I'm sure there are some People out there who are Running Spacers with different Centre Bores. Perhaps I might ask this Question on the E90 Forums. |

I have run all the combinations. Hubcentric rings alone, hybrid spacers that act as spacers with integrated rings, and spacers alone... Not sure what the question is...but...of course there's no difference between any of them, provided proper execution. Currently my X1 has E46 M3 fitment OZ wheels. Which means hubcentric rings up front (as TireRack sells with all of the wheels), along with a 10mm spacer...and the same out back with 15m spacers. Originally, I ran the Tire Rack provided 20mm spacers with integrated bore offset...but it was too much offset. So I sold the hybrid spacers/rings, and just ran rings w/ standard spacers.

GTony,
When I tried to run 120 mph on the Autobahn, I found out real quick my X1 s28i M Sport was unstable as hell. I bought 2 -12mm spacers from Burger Motorsports, and they fit really perfect on the front. That got the front track close to same as back, and now car drives right with no sway or vibration either. |

100 mph = 160 kph. Our Max. Speed Limit over here is 100 kph, with some Freeways allowing 110 kph. At 110/120 Kilometers per hour my car is steady without any heavy crosswinds. We have to many Greedy Speed Cameras on our highways. My Original SQ. Set Up is 17x7.5 34 O/Set c/w 225/50/17 RFT's. Now F 18x7.5 35 O/set 225/45/18 Non RF's PSS - 1mm in. R 18x9.0 40 O/set 255/40/18 Non RF's PSS - Around 24/25mm in and 13/14mm out. You can see them on the Photo Thread, Titled - My Alpine White -. I originally got 4x 18x7.5 from O/Seas. Chrome HD Wheels. Family are mad about Chrome. After fitting I wanted Wider so tried to sell here with no interest SO I got 2x 9.0 and am happy with look. Once PSS wear out might upsize to F 235's which is I think is the Max. Recommended for a 7.5" and R 265's. My preferred Wheels would be F 18x8.5 and R 18x9.5. Love 19's but Road Conditions here need good Profile. I will eventually be getting BC Coilovers which cost close to AUD$2,000 here Fitted. Sorry for long comments. Cheers. |

yep, you guys really like your wheels.
i just picked the 335's I think they're called in 8x18 and 9x18, and will shed some weight off when I get lower profile 40 series up front and 35 series rear tires. i wanted to see if you stayed square which you do, and not too bad an idea. |

Correction, I have the 355 wheels in 18 inch and staggered.
I really like the wheels and wanna stay as BMW look as possible. I used to sell tires and like to perfect size tires. To stay with smaller diameter 25 inch instead of 26inch and smaller profile it's 225/40r18 and 255/35r18. I'll do that with Michelin PSS when I wear stocks out. |

Everyone rates Michelin PSS as best in rain and lasts longer than other sticky street tires as long as you don't race on track day.
I mostly buy the best rain tires with near best dry, and these are the closest I've read about. Therefore, the cost per mile shouldn't be much more than other great street tires that only go 10k. |
