Can lowered on 17s still look good?
Anyone here lowered on 17s? Right now I have 19" style 225m (msport) wheels, so it never really occurred to me to swap to 17s... BUT, I love these wheels so much and noticed the Subaru Forester guys seem to make these tires work: 225/50r17, 245/45/r17, and 255/40/r17.
Seems like the most aggressive sport wheel setup is something like 19x8 et22 and 19x9 et17 after spacers which are pretty close to my 17" wheel offsets. What say you?! OZ Futura 8,5x17 ET 13 10x17 ET 19 5x120 Dare I say that 17s with 245/45 tires might even look better than 19s with 255/35 tires? |

8.5 with et of 13 is going to poke, a lot.
I got just a bit of poke with 8 with same ET at stock ride height. IF you lower it at all, it's going to be a good inch, inch and a half poke outside the fender. Rear is going to be about in the same boat. |

Camber will always come in when lowering but the a arms have to be past "level" before the entire wheel pulls back in. I suck at explaining this. Top of the wheel moves in due to camber, but the entirety of the wheel moves out. In general, the more you drop the smaller the wheel you can use that looks "good". But it's all relative. If your going to throw some meats on there it could turn out nice, just a different look. |

It seems like a lot of guys add 15mm F and 20mm R spacers on the 19" msport wheels without any fender modification.
BMW Style 225m - slightly rubs in the rear. 19x8 et37 with 15mm spacers = 19x8 et22 wrapped in 225/40 19x9 et39 with 20mm spacers = 19x9 et19 wrapped in 255/35 Oz Futura 17x8.5 et13 17x10 et 19 The Oz rears will stick out 12mm more, but if I went with a 245/45 tire, I'd only stick out 7mm more... This is sounding very doable after all...

These are 17s, if it helps...
And good to see a Subty guy on here. I've had 5 WRXs through the years, and a tuned Fozzy XT is an awesome runabout. I liken it to the X1 in many ways. Odd, cool factor.

Do any of your tires extend pass the fender? Do they rub at all during daily driving or at the track? Got anymore pics of wheel fitment? Car looks absolutely fantastic! |

Blue gains camber. Angle between blue and purple does not change. Purple compresses, red is the same length between the two. This happens on any McPherson strut design where the a-arm is not perpendicular to the ground at it's "normal" resting state. |
